Receives and accessions specimens into the laboratory information system (LIS). Prepares and aliquots specimens for various laboratory tests according to established protocols. Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of laboratory supplies. Provides information regarding specimen collection, test requisitions, and laboratory procedures. Addresses inquiries and concerns; escalates complex issues to the appropriate personnel. Ensures compliance with all applicable quality control and quality assurance measures. Under close supervision, performs phlebotomy, processes specimens, handles client inquiries, conducts waived testing, and contributes to pre-analytic laboratory tasks. HOURS: 4:00 am- 2:30pm, 10 hour shifts. Rotating weekends and holidays.

Under limited supervision, responsible for receiving clinical specimens, checking the requisitions and specimens for accuracy, accessioning the specimens, entering the orders into our laboratory information system, distributing worksheets to the medical technologists, and ensuring results are successfully reported to clients as part of our clinical services.

The Laboratory Assistant II, Laboratory Services provides technical skills necessary to perform sample processing within the division and may perform essential phlebotomy duties as assigned. Position Summary: Responsible for performing testing and maintaining data related to audiology services. May perform automated hearing screenings, and first follow-up screenings, for infants born at Memorial Hermann Hospital or care for UT Physicians patients in clinic as directed by supervising audiologist. Position Key Accountabilities: 1. Performs hearing screenings and first follow up screenings using automated equipment for all babies born at Memorial Hermann Hospital. 2. Maintains TEHDI database and upload results from screenings into TEHDI database. Enters results into EMR. 3. Provides written information to families regarding hearing, developmental milestones, and follow up instructions. Schedules diagnostic follow up appointments with audiologist. 4.
