Assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assist with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfer patients to and from other units, departments, or entities with specific attention to age-specific and safety needs. Assist with discharge transports and demonstrate proper body mechanics. Obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic tests in accordance with hospital policy. Ensures accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimens. Resolve patient concerns by initiating service recovery and immediately escalating patient, family, visitors and staff concerns through the chain of command. Prepare, update, and disseminate reports at the change of shift and when changes are noted in the patient's condition. Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance patient experience. Support the administrative and clinical operations of assigned practice environment. Orient new staff and students to work areas. Collaborate with other nursing staff and hospital employees to create an environment that is conducive to the retention of qualified personnel. Utilize downtime to assist others and/or to provide additional supportive measures to patients and/or patients' families within the respective patient care environment. The Carpenter, Operations performs skilled carpentry and drywall work in construction, general repairs, alterations, and renovations throughout the university, according to work order systems, sketches, blueprints, and/or oral instructions. Duties: * Constructs and repairs structures and fixtures. * Erects walls; installs, replaces, and repairs ceiling grids, door frames, and door hardware; hangs doors and window frames. * Demolishes concrete, bricks, concrete blocks, sheetrock walls, ceilings, furniture, and other structures as necessary. * Hangs sheet rock. * Installs, replaces, and repairs VCT, carpet, and other flooring products. * Hangs whiteboards, art work, banners, and other items as required. * Repairs structures and walls within university buildings, such as in bathrooms, classrooms, and offices. * Performs the necessary carpentry tasks required to complete work orders and to carry out the required preventative maintenance. The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD). This position functions as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team to provide coordination of mental health services to patients with an elevated risk of self-harm. This position will provide mental health services, as well as monitor and document the inmate's mental well-being and overall adjustment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Monitors at-risk inmates as identified by the Self-Harm Prevention Office. * Communicates relevant information including patient needs/emergencies and at-risk behavior(s) to mental health and/or medical for assessment. * Serves as a liaison with other departments to include security, classification and medical. * Track patient follow-up and clinical outcomes. * Document patient encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). * Conduct rounds in the inmate transient and pre-hearing detention areas. * Attend Unit Classification Committee (UCC) to include inmates returning form Behavioral Health facilities. * Conduct annual Suicide Prevention Training to both medical and security staff. * Assesses psychiatric emergencies and provides crisis intervention. * Attends departmental meetings and trainings, as necessary. * Maintain compliance with all related policies and procedures.
