Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNEs) conduct forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault or otherwise impacted by violence in a compassionate manner. A forensic exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation and referrals for appropriate follow-up support.
**Essential Functions**
+ Ability to respond to UVA Health within one hour of page.
+ On call shifts as needed to ensure clinical coverage.
+ Experience as a forensic nurse a plus; training provided.
+ Practices within scope, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
+ Pursues professional growth and development as a member of the SANE program on a continuous basis.
**SANE RN Responsibilities**
+ The FNE's objective is to provide knowledgeable caring clinical practice and care coordination with the healthcare teams.
+ Provides compassionate & prompt care and services to survivors of sexual assault or abuse.
+ Communicates with survivors and their families regarding evidence collection, treatment recommendations and reporting to law enforcement in a manner that promotes informed decisions.
+ Participates in mandatory reporting of child abuse, and other abuse/assault as defined by law and clearly and empathetically communicates with the patient and/or family as needed.
+ Provides fact and expert testimony as needed in court.
+ Provides recommendations for nursing care of injuries and prophylactic medications to medical team. Refers to appropriate support team members for further resources as necessary.
+ Integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum.
+ The FNE communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines.
+ Is responsible for taking photographs and documenting injuries in accordance with application guidelines and policies.
+ Collects, processes, ensures and maintains appropriate chain of custody of evidence clinical specimens and forensic medical records.
+ Documents all care with appropriate attention to detail and best practices.
+ Provides referrals to appropriate services for patient.
+ Coordinates with law enforcement and community-based advocates when applicable.
+ Provides patient education regarding exam, procedures, treatment, STI prevention, pregnancy prevention and follow-up care.
+ Provide written documentation and photographic documentation of injuries to physically and sexually abused/assault adolescents and adults.
+ Provides continuous assessment, consults with other team members as required and provides nursing care which demonstrates patient-centered and patient-valued care
+ Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered and patient-valued behaviors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a RegisteredNurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.

Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate patient flow operations for pediatric & adult patient populations across the VCU Health System enterprise
* Triage & assign bed placement based on clinical status, acuity, diagnosis, level of care, nursing competencies, & unit capabilities.
* Act as a clinical & administrative resource for complex patient care & bed assignment situations.
* Facilitate bilateral patient transfers, collaborating with external health systems within the region & beyond, VCU Lifecom, EVS, transport, & clinical team members.
* Identify & address barriers to patient flow in collaboration with physicians, nurse leaders, & operational teams.
* Monitor & guide adherence to established protocols & policies regarding bed placement & patient care delivery.

Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) is a 70-bed facility located in the heart of South Central Virginia serving residents of over 7 counties, including North Carolina due to its location just off the I-85 interstate and its proximity to the NC border. Community Memorial Hospital is a Primary Stroke Center and can manage acute ischemic strokes within their facility. The Acute Care unit consists of three separate nursing units for a total of 54 beds and serves a very diverse population from pediatrics to geriatrics, including medical, telemetry and surgical patients. The average Acute Care nurse to patient ratio is 1 to 4 with additional nursing support provided by patient care technicians, patient safety associates, unit secretaries, and cardiac monitor technicians. The patient care team also consists of 24-hour Hospitalist and ancillary support. The community setting of CMH creates a family and patient-centered atmosphere with outstanding teamwork not only within the department, but throughout the entire organization as team members strive to make the patient experience excellent. The nursing leadership supports continuing education and provides multiple opportunities for team members to advance their knowledge and skills in their nursing practice. Unit Summary:
This unit is a 21-bed unit that provides leading- edge, collaborative, and comprehensive care for adult patients with a variety of blood and bone marrow disorders. As a part of the VCU Massey Cancer Center, the largest adult stem cell and bone marrow transplant provider in all of Virginia, we offer the latest FDA- approved CAR-T immunotherapies, clinical trials testing new and promising forms of cellular immunotherapies, as well as all forms of stem cell and bone marrow transplantation. We provide both outpatient and inpatient services in the same facility, and provide a suite of support services that range from helping minimize symptoms and side effects to coping with the cognitive, emotional, and psychological effects of cancer.
A typical shift for our nurse includes a team of mixed registerednurses, clinical coordinators, and Patient Care Techs (PCTs) caring for adult patients. We are dedicated to providing a fulfilling and high energy work environment. Our nurses and PCTs have a unique perspective on compassion and a strong belief in the enormous potential of cancer survivorship. Treatment for the CIT population on the inpatient unit includes chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, blood product transfusions, infusion of cellular therapy, symptom management, reviewing laboratory findings, and central line management including specialized intravenous infusions and clinical trials. As a CIT RN you are also collaborating with the team to assess and address goals of patient care, while educating patients on disease and treatment options.
Through respectful, attentive and compassionate care, our multidisciplinary care team builds healing relationships with our patients that focus on recovery and survivorship. We work closely with a large team of supportive care specialists to address the psychological and social impacts of cancer for our patients.

General Information:
The University Health Center provides a comprehensive array of health care services and health education programs to JMU students. Included in our health care services are several medical clinics, a pharmacy, a medical laboratory, and other programs that provide services for more than 30,000 patient encounters a year. UHC practices evidence-based medicine in a confidential, inclusive environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to - intake for a medical appointment, phlebotomy, IV starts, EKG, Immunization administration, Allergy Injections, and more. Clinic hours are 745am-430pm M-F with PRN hours varying depending on need. No set hours are available, and flexibility is essential.
Qualifications:

* Current LPN license for the state of Virginia
* Ability to work well with college students in a fast-paced environment
