HIGHLIGHTS The nurse manager is responsible for managing all day-to-day and operational functions of the 24/7 UWMC-Montlake Endoscopy and Bronchoscopy Department, including organization and planning of the services provided by the unit, and for the operations and services of the UWMC-Montlake Digestive Health Clinic. The Nurse Manager provides leadership, makes decisions, sets goals, and assures that quality, performance and production standards are maintained, and works closely with service line leadership ensuring protocols, processes, and equipment are standardized across all locations. DLMP is currently undergoing an exciting transition to a centralized Core Laboratory located in Renton, WA. The HSM will be responsible for overseeing the technical clinical operations of the Core Laboratory, which include analytical and post analytical automation, manual, and specialized testing within Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and related sections. Additionally, this role will manage and supervise staff that include contract classified staff, and will provide oversight for regulatory requirements, quality assurance standards, preventative maintenance, safety protocols, IT system functionality, and support to academic programs and training, among other duties listed below. The HSM will work closely with all levels of leadership within DLMP and across UW Medicine, including, but not limited to, Harborview Medical Center, UWMC-Montlake, and UWMC-Northwest to ensure clinical excellence, optimize staff productivity, and uphold laboratory compliance standards. Maintain working knowledge of the Laboratory Information System (LIS), bioinformatic pipelines, and laboratory workflow software systems including, Manage downstream computer systems display the report in a user-friendly and required regulatory format. Use the LIS, other information systems, and reporting systems to ensure consistency in performance across the team and that they are meeting the laboratory's goals, act on resolution if needed. What you'll need: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, science, or other relevant fields. Medical Laboratory Science certification with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certifying organization; or certification with specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory divisions. Six (6) years of progressively responsible clinical technologist experience to include three (3) years in a leadership or supervisory capacity (or equivalent). Experience with wet bench procedures, instrumentation, quality management/assurance, and CAP proficiency and accreditation guidelines. Track record of effective management of teams and staff to meet group goals, meet deadlines, and set priorities. Track record of effective Change Management. Extensive knowledge and expertise in clinical laboratory test/system validations and data management. Demonstrated experience with laboratory process improvements. Position Summary A SIGN-ON BONUS OF UP TO $2,500 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE. ELIGIBILITY FOR SIGN-ON BONUS Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements: A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time (more than 20 hours a week) employee are eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working more than 20 hours and less than 40 hours per week). An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if: 1. the employee has held a SHRA position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date); 2. the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any North Carolina State agency or university; 3. or UNC-CH has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. Additional information regarding the SHRA Sign-on Policy can be found Article - SHRA Sign-On and Retention … The Professional Nurse in the Primary Care setting within the Department of Nursing Service is responsible for organizing and providing direct patient care for those patients served by Campus Health; applying clinical expertise in the utilization of the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation); recognizing that the scope and complexity of patient's conditions vary from primary to chronic and routine to acute; and acts as a liaison between the health care provider and patient to promote optimal patient care. The Professional Nurse also implements educational programs, assists with complex technical/medical procedures, and supervises ancillary nursing personnel. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience The nature of the Professional Nurse required flexibility for change, knowledge of nursing theories and practices, understanding of computer technology systems and programs, and the ability to adapt to advances in medicine. Advances in medical and computer technologies are on-going and complex that results in new approaches to the delivery of patient care. As a result of these advances, standards of practice may change requiring revision of policies and procedures. On a daily basis, physical effort and stamina are required for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care. Examples include transporting, bending, lifting, standing for long periods of time, and monitoring of patient demand throughout the clinics that require extensive walking throughout the work day. Be able to understand Instruction includes medical orders written or verbal by the health care provider, written agency policies and detailed procedures, reference manuals, nursing guidelines and standards set forth by the Nurse Practice Act of North Carolina. Precision, exactness and accuracy are essential to the practice of nursing care. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Prefer experience in an acute/ambulatory care/office based setting, administration of intravenous therapy. Experience with College Health helpful. Required Licenses/Certifications Special Physical/Mental Requirements Visual acuity is essential for the physical assessment and implementation of nursing/medical care on a daily basis. Examples may include examining patients, reading medical charts, documentation of physical findings and preparation and administration of medication. Mental concentration is required to document physical assessment findings to ensure that the data collected is thorough and accurate. Manual dexterity is required in the performance of many areas of direct and indirect patient care. These may include placement of an intravenous catheter, application of sterile dressings and administration of medication. This role ensures efficient clinic operations, high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and a positive experience for patients, providers, staff, and students. The Clinic Manager provides leadership to clinic staff and serves as a key liaison between clinical providers, administration, and external partners. Principal Functional Responsibilities Clinic Operations: Provide operational management of clinic operations. Assist in establishing clinical operations on campus including student health, employee health, opioid use disorder, behavioral health and a primary care clinic. Manage clinic operations, inventory control, patient scheduling and referrals, workflow processes, and maintenance of confidential patient records. Ensure facility compliance with applicable law and regulations. Interface with the appropriate services and entities providing credentialing and compliance support.
