The Front Desk Receptionist/Scheduler is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to patients and ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience within the center. In addition to patient-facing duties, this role also manages medical records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and is responsible for closing patient charts accurately and efficiently. Essential Job Functions: Welcomes all individuals entering the ASC suite with a professional and positive demeanor. Checks in patients promptly and offers assistance to both patients and their family members. Communicates any concerns that may affect the schedule flow to the RN staff. Coordinates and schedules surgical procedures on a daily basis. Prepares surgical charts by accurately entering patient information, including consent forms, history and physicals (H&P), lab results, EKGs, and pathology slips. Generates charge sheets for each case. Collects labs, EKGs, and history and physicals (H&P), and organizes them in the Anesthesia folder for review as needed for scheduled cases. Creates file folders for each complete case. Inserts operative notes and pathology reports into the corresponding charts upon receipt, and files completed charts accordingly. Monitors medical records to ensure regulatory and documentation compliance. Closes and finalizes patient charts in a timely manner. He or she will communicate with the patient care staff, patients and families regarding durable medical equipment issues or concerns. They will look to help facilitate patient flow with rooming/patient intakes as needed. Principal Duties and Responsibilities : Assists physicians with patient care and flow during office hours; properly fits and applies pre-operative braces, crutches, and other soft goods; prepares and applies casts, splints, and orthopedic durable medical equipment; changes dressings; removes sutures, casts, and splints. Educate patients on insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of patient portion and follows compliance guidelines. Responsible for recording the details in the patient's medical record as well as completing all of the necessary documentation in order for the billing department to submit the DME claim to the patient's insurance carrier. Assists physicians as needed with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, fracture reductions, etc; instructs proper care for patients in casts, splints, or traction devices, as well as the use of orthopedic durable medical equipment. May be responsible for assisting the physicians with care and treatment with acute orthopedic injuries by applying/removing/reapplying casts/splints and wound care as needed. Essential Job Functions: School Responsibilities (30 hours/week) Act as a representative of University Orthopedics and the standards valued therein. Work with the athletic director to plans for providing athletic training coverage at interscholastic athletic events identified in Athletic Training Program Coverage Policy. Establish and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training facility. Develop comprehensive venue and condition specific emergency action plans. Establish a working relationship with a designated team physician and community physicians. Work in accordance with standing orders and team physician recommendations. Establish a working relationship with school nursing staff. Complete (school systems) policies training to include Blood Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan training and comply with the regulations therein.
