Faculty Associate - Headache Specialty

The University of Maryland Faculty Practice is seeking a full-time faculty member with specialty training in Headache and facial pain syndromes to join the Department of Neurology.
The Department of Neurology provides evaluation, treatment, and care for patients suffering from a wide range of neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and migraine. We provide care through our inpatient and consultative services, our designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, our Level 4 Epilepsy Center, our 22-bed Neuro-Critical Care Unit, and our busy outpatient practice. The Department also provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation services. A number of departmental faculty received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Veteran's Administration to study the role of genetics in stroke, epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease, new brain imaging modalities in multiple sclerosis, biomarkers in multiple sclerosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and intellectual disability. Many of our faculty are lead investigators in clinical trials to identify new therapeutic approaches for a broad range of neurological disorders.
The faculty member will expand a multi-disciplinary outpatient practice focusing on headache, migraine and facial pain syndromes. Clinical responsibilities will include inpatient consultation as well as procedures such as chemo denervation, nerve blocks, trigger point injections, infusion protocols and alternative approaches as appropriate, as well as coordinate clinical trials related to headache. Strong collaboration with behavioral health and integrative plan services is expected. The selected faculty will participate in education and teaching of medical students and residents and to assist with launch of a headache fellowship.

This position serves as the Chief Performance Officer for the national HIDTA program and oversees all data, research, and reports for the W/B HIDTA and the Center for Public Safety Innovation (CPSI). The position is responsible for oversight of all performance categories for the HIDTA program, including data accuracy, reports, research requests, trend analysis, legislative reporting and reports and analytical products for the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), which funds the PMP program. Additionally, this position manages all personnel assigned to the PMP program within the CPSI and oversees the preparation of the W/B HIDTA Annual Threat Assessment as well as various reports released by the Center.
Must be able to pass National Security background check and obtain a government issued Top Secret Level security clearance (required).
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for management of the national HIDTA program Performance Management Process (PMP) program. Provide coordination of performance data nationwide for the HIDTA program. Required Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a terminal degree in journalism, media production, strategic communication or a related field (PhD preferred) and with the qualifications to be appointed as an associate Professor or preferably a full professor with tenure in one of the Academic Departments in SGJC. Significant administrative experience on the level of department chair, program director or similar positions are expected. The individual must be able to travel and work in an office environment.

1. Installs, diagnoses problems, repairs and maintains pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, gas, sewer and drainage systems according to blueprints, specifications, and plumbing codes.

Plumber Specialist:

5. Repairs and maintains low and medium pressure steam lines, traps, heat exchangers, pressure reducing devices, control devices, and equipment. Descales clean steam generators.
6. Installs, inspects and tests back-flow preventers; ensures that there are no cross connections between water and sewer lines.
7. Repairs, replaces, and tests fire hydrants.
8. Installs, repairs water coolers and drinking fountains, including refrigerant systems.
9. Repairs condensate return systems.
10. Maintains and repairs instantaneous steam fired hot water generators.
11. Maintains and repairs building boilers.
12. Operates specialized video camera equipment to inspect sewer and storm lines.
13. Specifies, installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs domestic and laboratory piping including glass, stainless steel, and sani-tech systems.
14. Specifies, installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs specialized laboratory equipment, including distilled water equipment, autoclaves, sterilizers, cage/equipment, washers, dechlorinators, softners, UV light systems, humidifiers/dehumidifier
15. Performs maintenance on electrical/electronic gauges, controls, solenoids. Equipment can be gas, steam, or water fed.
16. Troubleshoots and maintains dental oral evacuation system/saliva holding tanks, associated biohazard-type equipment and domestic water filtration and backwash equipment.
17. Performs underground pipe repair work in ditches and manholes up to 20' deep, requiring trenching and shoring in accordance with OSHA/MOSH regulations.
18. Locates underground piping for contractors, diagnosis water flow problems, determines connection requirements, updates facility/infrastructure drawings.
19. Performs and records (using computer-based systems) maintenance of emergency eyewash, fire pumps, shower, and sprinkler systems. Determines maintenance requirements, schedules.
20. Performs testing of fire suppression sprinkler systems.
21. Overhauls pumps including circulators, sumps, boosters, air, vacuum, and gas. Troubleshoots and repairs pump controls and switches.
22. Lays out and assembles pipe systems and supports. Pipe systems to include sanitary, hot water, low and medium pressure steam, storm; hydraulic, pneumatic, gas and oil-fired water boilers, heating and radiating, lubricating, and sprinkler systems.

28. Maintains understanding of current trends, codes, safety, practices and technologies related to the trade and associated trades.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This collaborative effort between the University of Maryland division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Upper Chesapeake Health will establish a comprehensive GI service line at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Starting July 2025, the GI service line offers inpatient and outpatient GI services, in the newly opened Ambulatory Surgical Center and ambulatory clinical space. Currently, two GI providers and two nurse practitioners comprise the team; we seek to recruit 3 - 4 additional gastroenterologists. Rapidly growing comprehensive GI practice in Harford County, Maryland, 40 minutes from downtown Baltimore. This position is eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship on a case-by-case basis, competitive guaranteed base annual salary, sign-on bonus, quality, productivity and relocation bonus available, CME allocation of $3,000/year.
Three pathways available to ensure an excellent lifestyle work balance with flexibility to tailor pathways for the right applicant:
GI hospitalist covering inpatient consultations and endoscopy, 7 days on/7 days off, including 24-hour call for 24 weeks/year. Out-patient endoscopy is possible if desired.
Hybrid GI hospitalist - Mainly inpatient coverage with some outpatient duties. Similar schedule as the GI hospitalist with an extra day of ambulatory endoscopy in the ASC.
Outpatient/Ambulatory model - 3-4 days of outpatient endoscopy performed in the hospital endoscopy suite and ASC plus 1-2 days of clinic with a few weeks of inpatient call coverage.
