Dr. McDamien Dedzo, MBChB, MPH, MBA, FGCP is a highly skilled public health leader and physician with over 25 years of experience in health systems strengthening and state-of-the-art technical implementation of high impact Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health, Nutrition, malaria and Family Planning/Reproductive Health services in Ghana. In his current position as Deputy Chief of Party of the USAID Systems for Health Project in Ghana, Dr. Dedzo provides leadership and overall technical and management responsibility for program implementation including employee and program activity supervision in support of the Chief of Party. His technical strengths are in human resources for health, leadership and management, performance-based financing, health systems strengthening, and integrated clinical service delivery. As the former Director for the Human Resources Directorate within Ghana Health Service from 2009 to 2012, Dr. Dedzo led the planning, resource mobilization and re-launch of the leadership development program which had collapsed. He played a key role in the design of this essential program for training and equipping senior managers within the Ghana Health Service in the areas of planning and management, gender, supervision and quality improvement. Dr. Dedzo has held roles as the Regional Director in three out of the ten Regional Health Directorates in Ghana, supervising approximately 600 Regional Health Management Team members, coordinating service delivery activities of more than 17,000 health workers for over 9.5 million people in Ghana.
