**General Summary:**
This position is responsible for providing expert medical analysis of claims files (or underwriting applications) across Unum US product lines. The incumbent provides high quality, timely, and efficient medical consultative services to the Benefits Center. Primary Responsibilities:

**General Summary:**
The Underwriting Consultant will demonstrate expert risk evaluation, selection and retention of profitable business within assigned authority limits. This also requires a strong ability to partner with Company sales teams, brokers and all internal partners. This role may also assist with the training, technical development and mentoring of other underwriters. Additionally, the incumbent will lead and influence others in the organization to support change and drive profitable results.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Consult with sales and service partners to provide the products and plan options that best meet the needs of our customers.
+ Evaluate and select risk to ensure the profitable acquisition of new cases and the continued profitable retention of in force cases.
+ Conduct high quality risk assessments on all cases to assure business guidelines, target profit and metrics are met. Identify and analyze risk trends, making recommendations for addressing these
+ Contribute to the development of policies and procedures in support of product development initiatives.
+ Demonstrate a mastery of the Company's product portfolio, the sales, implementation, and enrollment processes, and market place influences
+ Deliver dependable, accurate, and timely service while maintaining relationships with internal and external partners
+ Act as a technical resource for junior underwriters and provide developmental feedback on case level decisions within the context of a mentoring relationship
+ Act as a mentor and coach, providing input to management regarding mentee performance
**Job Specifications**
+ Bachelors degree or equivalent, relevant business experience
+ Demonstrated, consistent proficiency at Senior Underwriter level
+ Mastery of product provisions, plan designs, pricing and contractual benefits
+ Excellent technical expertise in risk selection

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$63,500.00-$120,000.00

The Chief AI Architect for OptumRx leads the design and implementation of AgenticAI, shaping the company's AI/ML strategy. This role drives the shift to an AI-focused enterprise, collaborating with executives to set strategic direction, optimize operations, and enable innovation. The ideal candidate has solid AI/ML expertise, leadership experience, and a proven record in large-scale AI transformation.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Involved across many aspects of architecture, design, build, engineering and implementation of technical solutions and capabilities providing technical leadership
* Communicate overall architecture vision, technical strategies, and trade-offs across various levels in the organization to gain buy-in
* Provide recommendations and technical guidance to improve performance, reliability, and reusability within the constraints of budget, resource and business dependencies
* Engage across teams in a capacity that ranges from assisting on in-flight initiatives, up to technical briefings and demonstrations of new technologies across the organization

Required Qualifications:
* 8+ years of software engineering experience with Java and/or Python

* 3+ years of design and implementation of advanced AI/ML strategies
* 3+ years of Cloud-Native AI deployment
Preferred Qualifications:
* 2+ years of experience with frameworks such as Langgraph, Autogen, CrewAI, OpenAI APIs, and Scikit-learn
* 1+ years of experience developing applications powered by generative AI (e.g., conversational AI, content creation, personalization) and AgenticAI systems for adaptive and goal-oriented decision-making
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $156,400 to $268,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
