The Ultrasound Technologists performs examinations according to established protocols. The Ultrasound Technologists demonstrates an understanding of human cross sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. The Ultrasound Technologists maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and imaging technique. The Ultrasound Technologists supports the mission of the hospital and department by excellent customer relations skills.
Essential Functions:
* Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination being performed, including correct patient identification and order verification
* Assess patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure
* Performs pre and post exam patient education pertinent to exam being performed
* Produces scans according to established protocols within the Diagnostic Imaging Department with a high degree of accuracy
* Evaluates finished images for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality
* Discusses technical findings with Radiologist
* Ensures examinations are complete to include, Cerner completion and PACS review
* Instructs Radiology Residents and students in the Ultrasound scanning protocols (depending on facility)
* Assists in training new personnel in hospital and department procedures
* Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities

Responsibilities
Perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.
Set up and adjust all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures.
Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.
Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
One or more of the following required:
Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Sonography Tech credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:

City/State Harrisonburg, VA Work Shift First (Days) Sentara Rockingham Memorial Hospital is hiring an Echocardiographer for the Cardiac service line non-invasive lab. This is a full time, day shift position in Harrisonburg, Va. Sign on Bonus of up to $20,000 for qualified candidates.
Hours: Monday - Friday, day shift, with call every 7th week to include the weekend. The echocardiographer is off the preceding Friday and following Monday of their call weekend. The Echocardiographer must live within a 30-minute drive of the hospital for call purposes.
An Echocardiographer, also known as a cardiac sonographer, specializes in performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart. These professionals work closely with cardiologists to evaluate heart structures, functions, and blood flow, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions.
The Sentara RMH Medical Center echocardiography lab is considered high volume with close to 9,500 procedures performed annually. The lab works closely with our invasive cardiology (structural heart, electrophysiology, diagnostic/interventional cath) and cardiothoracic surgery services.Each Team member is expected to perform about 7 exams per day. Specific exams include: adult 2D and 3D transthoracic and transesophageal echo, myocardial strain, contrast (DEFINITY), agitated saline (bubble study), exercise stress echo and dobutamine stress echo. Preliminary reports are generated in ProSolv (Structured Report SW Application). Clinical equipment include state of the art Philips Epic ultrasound systems and EPIC (electronic medical record). Both inpatient and outpatient echo services are located on the Sentara RMH Medical Center main campus within the non-invasive cardiology lab.

Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonographer Specialty Job Responsibilities
Communicates effectively with the patient to obtain clinical maternal-fetal history/informed consent from the patient or patient's chart to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination, as evidenced by the exam results. Pediatric Echocardiographer Job Responsibilities
Demonstrates the ability to recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with exams and takes appropriate action to resolve them while producing the most desirable outcome, as evidence by exam results and patient satisfaction. Communicates effectively with ordering and/or interpreting physicians to ensure appropriate use.
Demonstrates proper technique for injection of IV contrast, or other test-enhancing solution, under the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Standards. Ensures rooms are stocked with appropriate supplies and has required supplies readily available for procedures.
Correctly identifies patients and appropriate orders, ensuring a high degree of accuracy, as evidenced by the lack of mismatched studies. Maintains active credential status by complying with continual education requirements. Attends at least 50 percent of QA conferences.
Demonstrates patient safety in department by use of side rails, braking mechanisms and patient monitoring as demonstrated by risk management. Reports, documents and corrects any adverse, unsafe or unusual conditions, as evidenced by documentation in the tracking system. Demonstrates proper care and aseptic cleaning of all patient related equipment following established department policies to ensure the quality of care provided to patients.
Troubleshoots equipment effectively and reports equipment to biomedical engineering/vendor, as evidenced by service reports. Performs/recognizes need for routine maintenance of echo vascular equipment for consistency of quality images, as evidenced by the physician and the exam results.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduate of an accredited school/program of diagnostic medical sonography or five years of specialized training in a hospital/healthcare setting.
License: ARDMS Registered with RDCS Certification or CCI Registered with RCS Certification for Echo, or ARDMS with RVT or CCI with the RVS Certification for Vascular.
Certification: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association

Job Summary and Qualifications
The ultrasound technologist is responsible for performing a variety of complex specialized technical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with the detection of anatomical abnormalities.
What you will do in this role:
You will be responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures ordered by the physician.
You will be responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a diagnostic/therapeutic environment.?
You will demonstrate the ability to perform surgery and portable exams.?
You will accurately follow physician orders, document the completion of the exam in Meditech, scans document and verify images in PACS.
You will follow proper procedures for quality controls and HLD related to equipment and accessories.?
You will demonstrate proper documentation concerning the patient's history, including lab values.?
What qualifications you will need:
Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
ARDMS registered or acquire within 6 months?
BLS current?

Job Summary and Qualifications
As an Ultrasound Technologist, you would prepare patients, collect relevant information for completion of procedures, and perform sonographic exams following defined protocols. Throughout the procedure, you would be observant of patients' conditions, and notify physician of unusual occurrences.
Compile appropriate records to expedite results.
You will analyze the quality of images and processes as required.
Completes data sheet containing pertinent patient information following exam prior to forwarding to radiologist.
Take call after regular hours to meet department needs.
What qualifications you will need:
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Two to three years' experience (preferred) as Radiologic Technologist or Sonographer, including two-plus years of experience in a hospital.
ARDMS eligible.
ARDMS Certification preferred.
