What you will do
* Loading and unloading laminate reels on/off winders, running the machine and recording reel transactions.
* Closely monitor product quality, assuring first quality material shipped to customers.
* Report machine breakdowns/faults, possible quality defects not marked in coating and other process disturbances to supervisor.
* Report process and or mechanical difficulties.
* Coordinate with supervisor and production planning to optimize the material/order flow.
* Assure adequate operating supplies and informing purchasing of any shortages.
* Other tasks as specified by the Quality Management System.
Who you are
* You have education and experience equivalent to High School education and 1-2 years work experience in an industrial setting.
* Previous work experience in paper/paper converting industry or experience working with web-handling equipment desired.
* You are able to work well within a team.
* You must have well-developed problem solving skills, including the ability and willingness to apply a systematic approach to the process.
* You must be computer-literate. Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage.
* You must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability understand and adhere to written work instructions.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Inspect equipment for safety issues
* May operate automatic adhesive binding machines (perfect binders) that contain numerous interrelated process stations that are fed collated sheets or signatures and perform such functions as vibrating, milling, roughening, gluing, covering and delivering or stacking completed books, magazines or catalogs
* Make needed adjustments to coordinate the multiple work stations on a single machine

Qualifications

* Must be able to calculate distances, clearances, and fits in combining machines
* Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating conditions of the bindery machines
* General knowledge of the more complex bindery machines (i.e. fully automatic binding machines (perfect binders), multiple station collators and multiple folding units, either individually or combined) to perform the full range of standard and specialized folds of printed materials
* Thorough knowledge of the set up, operating requirements, procedures, capabilities and limitations of one or more bindery machines to perform the full range of standard and specialized folding, collating and cutting of printed materials to complete a combined finishing product
* Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock

Our company is seeking an Inline Finishing Operator for 3rd shift (10pm to 6am). The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of inline press equipment (HPT4250) while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operating and overseeing press functions to ensure orders are completed accurately, on time, and to specification.
Reviewing job tickets, layouts, and specifications to determine optimal setup and production methods.
Coordinating with prior and incoming shifts, maintaining press logs, and communicating any equipment or production issues.
Leading and supporting crew members by assigning tasks, providing training, and ensuring routine maintenance is completed.
Monitoring product quality, including register, color, folds, glue, die cuts, perforations, and other specifications, and making adjustments as necessary.
Assisting with equipment setup, webbing, roller changes, repairs, and recovery from breakdowns or web breaks.
Maintaining accurate production records, including counters, load tickets, sample approvals, and reader copies.
Enforcing all safety standards, ensuring proper use of PPE, and verifying that safety mechanisms are in place and functioning.
Keeping the press area clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift.
Staying current with industry technology and process improvements.

Shift: Multiple shifts available (12-hour shifts - Days: 7am - 7pm or Nights: 7pm - 7am)
Shift Details: This position follows a rotating 2-2-3-2 schedule: work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days, off 2 days, work 2 days, off 3 days, then repeat. You will be placed on a designated day or night shift (not swing). A minimum of 4-6 weeks of day-shift training (Monday-Friday, 8-hour schedule) is required before moving into the rotation.

What are the basic qualifications?
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2-3 years' experience operating manufacturing machines, troubleshooting, and working as a lead machine operator in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (printing, packaging, and large-scale manufacturing industries preferred).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Mechanical aptitude and comfort with hands-on machine operation in a manufacturing setting.
Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. for up to a 12-hour work shift (2-2-3-2 shift rotation).
Willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Information
The rate of pay for this role at the noted RRD location is $22.00 / hour. Typically, roles follow step
