1972

He took the reins of a financially struggling organization in December 1972 and during his 21-year tenure steered the league well beyond its initial focus on job training.

1980

The establishment of the Black Scholars Program in 1980 was itself a statement to the community.

1984

In addition to many other stories during his career, Goodman helped cover the 20th anniversary of the Rochester riots in 1984, and the 50th anniversary last summer.

2003

Taren Greenidge, 29, for example, was recognized as a Black Scholar during her senior year at Penfield High School in 2003.
