Us Army Reserves company history timeline

1908

On April 23, 1908, Congress created the Medial Reserve Corps, the official predecessor of the Army Reserve.

1941

When the United States entered the Second World War in December 1941, the number of Army Reserve officers on active duty rose from less than 3,000 to more than 57,000.

1948

In 1948 Congress authorized retirement and drill pay for the first time after recognizing the importance of the Organized Reserve to American success during World War II. The Korean War saw more than 240,000 Army Reserve soldiers called to active duty.

1950

The medal, which can be awarded to reservists from any branch, was originally created by President Harry Truman in 1950 to acknowledge the pivotal role they play in the nation’s defense.

2019

Alda, who is now 86, was honored at the 2019 Screen Actor Guild Awards with the year’s Life Achievement Award.
