The team at SCRI Oncology Partners is seeking an experienced remote Telephone Operator to act as the initial point of contact for all calls coming in to the practice. The ideal candidate has experience with answering multiple lines and determining where to send calls or service tickets pending on the need of the called (triage, new patient scheduling, providers, etc.). The duties, responsibilities, and qualifications of the role are listed below. SCOPE: * Under general supervision, is responsible for providing a full range of telephone switchboard duties, including triaging calls and relaying messages. * Assists with clerical duties as required. * Serves as a liaison between patients and medical staff. * Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Courteously and efficiently answers all incoming calls and connects callers with the correct extension. * Takes and relays messages in an accurate and timely manner. * Responds to emergency and urgent calls from patients in a timely manner. * Directs callers immediately to clinical staff as necessary. * Performs operator functions including triaging calls; connecting and transferring calls; setting up conference calls; instructing users on telephone procedures; and reporting telephone and equipment malfunctions to the appropriate party. * Provides a pleasant and helpful phone contact for callers. * Responsible for opening and closing the switchboard. * Performs clerical duties as assigned to maintain workflow in the department. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Minimum 2-3 years office experience, preferably in a medical setting. SCOPE : The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for accurately performing specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures for moderate- and high-complexity laboratory testing. This role follows established quality assurance and safety policies, conducts specimen collection, and assists with patient flow as needed. The MLT performs clinical tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and applies clinical judgment and technical skills to assess the appropriateness of results, determine the need for retesting, and identify when equipment recalibration is required. The position also performs and monitors specialized diagnostic tests while adhering to standard operating procedures, scientific methods, and all applicable quality guidelines. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Assists with special procedures as needed (i.e. bone marrows in the room). * Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results. * Sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house. * Processes incoming orders for lab testing including reference laboratory specimens. * Performs specimen analysis of all Chemistry, Hematology and Immunology specimens. * Maintains and operates all laboratory equipment. Performs daily, weekly and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated. * Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies and documents all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and instrument maintenance. Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrators and reagents. * Participates in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and reporting results at least once a year. * Records results on appropriate worksheet and computer system and performs file maintenance. Processes specimens for send-out testing. * Follows the laboratory's policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance. * Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either corrects the problem or notifies supervisor. * Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. * Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records and checklists. * Verifies all critical results and documents with accurate follow-up. * Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures that all supplies are viable before using in patient testing. * Prepares reagents and other chemical solutions as needed. Restocks the laboratory area as needed. * Processes in-house and in-coming results for charting. * Charts patient results in a timely manner as needed. * Adheres to all OSHA compliance laws and Universal Precaution procedures. * Complies with applicable regulatory agency standards. * Ensures proper disposal of hazardous materials. * Maintains a clean working environment. * Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff. * Performs CLIA classified Waived and Moderately complexity testing. * May be under the supervision of a Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Associates degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related science field. * Current state license if required. Performs efficient data entry into systems used by pharmacy and admixture. * Orders medication and supplies as directed. * Assists with required cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and the pharmacy department in general to minimize particle counts and improve overall sanitation Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School diploma or equivalent. * Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement required. * Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills. * I.V. certification preferred. Responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. * Assesses health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history. * Collects and records nursing assessment and interventions. * Reviews and reports the results of the health status assessment and physical examination, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data and psychosocial assessment of assigned patients to the provider. * Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material. * Provides psychosocial support to patients and families. * Maintains patient confidentiality. Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. * Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. * Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. * Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management. * Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. * Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. * Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Maintains work environment. * Restocks the supply area as needed. * Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen. * Maintains all disinfection protocols. * Maintains equipment according to quality control standards. Clinical Operations and Patient Care * Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart. * Assists physician with exams and procedures. * Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms. * Facilitates and schedules consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals and future appointments for patients. * Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart. * As necessary, facilitates communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinates services related to patient care. * Assist patients in locating available community resources. * Programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home. * Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage. * Other duties as assigned Inter Professional Collaboration * Assist and collaborate with clinical research. * Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. * Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed. * Participates in professional development activities and maintains current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Training: * Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. * RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. * Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. * Must maintain continuing education requirements. Business Experience: * 3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred. Specialized Knowledge/Skills: * Oncology certification preferred. * Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card preferred. Full job Description: Tennova Healthcare - Clarksville is a 180-bed hospital with 2 surgery centers, 12 ORs, and a team of 25 CRNAs and 6 Anesthesiologists. This role would be a generalist doing a variety of cases including general, healthy peds, ortho, endo, plastics, obstetrics, and neuro. Call requirements are 13 weekends of call a year, which weekends consist of 24-hour beeper call from home and then going to a backup beeper call from home. During the work week, you typically have 1 form of call with your post-call day off. This hospital is known for its work-life balance, family-friendly environment, and teamwork.
