    Highlights Department: Urgent Care Middletown Hours: 38.00 per week Shift: Shift 1 The Radiology Coordinator supervises, coordinates and oversees the daily operations, workflow, customer service and quality control of imaging services within the Urgent Care modality. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provides patient care essential to imaging procedures. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures and in accordance with the health system policies, protocols and standards. Function as a Medical Assistant to room patients; obtain vitals, reconcile medications, and interview patients to identify chief complaints. Provides a high level of expertise to mentor staff/students and problem solving. Perform regular QC checks and coordinate machine maintenance as needed. Perform regular QA checks for each technician. Provide coaching and additional training when necessary. Address and record any errors or incidents with technicians. Acts as liaison between the Radiology Department and Urgent Care clinics to ensure up to date practice for all techs. Using initiative, good judgment and technical expertise to perform a wide-range of imaging procedures. Acts as a positive role model/mentor for staff and students in demonstrating good behaviors, interpersonal relations and promotes a high degree of morale. Applies the principles of teamwork in all aspects of providing patient services. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiography program. ARRT Certification/Eligible in good standing State of Connecticut License/Eligible High School Diploma or GED equivalent Preferred Qualifications Three to five years experience as Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT, RDMS, NMTCB etc) required. One to three years leadership experience including coaching and counseling staff, and developing staff schedules. Bachelor degree or equivalent experience preferred. Demonstrated high level of technical expertise and competency in two or more imaging modalities. Demonstrated good communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to interact positively with all levels of health care workers and guests required. Demonstrated good organizational skills with the ability to handle several tasks/projects simultaneously required. Demonstrated good judgment and problem solving skills with the ability to function independently and make decisions required. Demonstrated flexibility, teamwork and the ability to build consensus required. Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets preferred. Assesses the educational needs and competencies of cardiac sonographer staff and develops, schedules, coordinates, and conducts educational programming for new and existing staff. Oversees the Residency Program. Assists with and provides clinical supervision and evaluation of patient care related to echocardiography. Available to perform inpatient and/or outpatient cardiac ultrasound testing to include 2D echo / Doppler, stress exams, and transesophageal echocardiograms as well as other duties assigned by manager or director. Provides complex technical care with the use of ultrasound technology for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and provides all necessary documentation and preliminary exam findings. Must have excellent understanding of structural heart procedures as they relate to echocardiography. Must also have full understanding of the use of 3D cardiac ultrasound. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Oversee Residency Program a. Assists with activities related to echocardiography laboratory accreditation for Piedmont Healthcare hospitals to ensure compliance to IAC standards. b. Assists with monitoring and reporting on quality metrics identified by Piedmont Healthcare and associated with IAC standards. c. Compile physician and sonographer competency / registry and CME attendance records. d. Routinely review cardiac sonographer exams as part of a formal quality assurance program. 2. Training and Education a. Assess the educational needs and competencies of cardiac sonographer staff and interns and develop, schedule, coordinate, and conduct educational programming for new and existing staff to improve quality of care and reduce variation in workflow. b. Maintain an up to date knowledge of echocardiography trends and best practice and conduct, participate in, facilitate, and utilize research to foster evidence-based practice. c. Provide clinical supervision and evaluation of patient care related to echocardiography. d. Attend and participate in echocardiography leadership activities. e. Quality/Innovation on echo protocols, policies and procedures f. Maintain relationships with technical colleges and oversee student interns. 3. Clinical Support a. Perform patient evaluations including verifying patient identity, reviewing the medical record for orders and prior studies, and addressing patient questions and concerns. b. Perform echocardiograms including 2D / Doppler with and without contrast, dobutamine stress and exercise stress echo exams, and transesophogeal echocardiograms according to protocol. c. Complete appropriate documentation, post processing, and preliminary findings in the medical record and cardiovascular PACS system. d. Acquire and maintain training and competency in electronic health record system as required to perform duties. e. Maintain personal competency file if applicable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES • Skill and competency in performing detailed cardiac ultrasound studies. • Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Proficient in Microsoft windows-based computer software. • Experience with electronic health records and cardiovascular PACS systems. • Ability to work as a member of a team. • Demonstrated clinical expertise and interest and ability in providing education. • Self-starter with outstanding organizational, analytical, and project management skills. Qualifications: MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of registry approved ultrasound college according to CAAHEP. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Seven (7) years clinical experience as a registered cardiac sonographer. MINIMUM LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: • Registered as a Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience with the IAC accreditation process. • Experience developing and administering educational material. • Knowledge of data collection, analysis, and presentation. • Bachelor's degree in Cardiac Sonography or a healthcare related field. The ICU RN's are required to have a wide array of knowledge, skill and ability to competently and safely provide critical care to our patients. Frequent ongoing education, new skill acquisition and skill validation are provided and supported by an experienced ICU CNS for new and experienced ICU nurses. Newly hired RN's will have between 2-14 weeks of orientation depending on prior experience. Our preceptors are purposely selected for their teaching ability and formally trained to meet the training needs of new staff. Specific attention is provided for new graduate ICU RN's as they participate in our Vizient AACN Nurse Residency Program and AACN's essentials of Critical Care Orientation online education. Experienced RN's are encouraged and supported with educational and financial assistance to achieve critical care certification. Bilingual (English/ Vietnamese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Russian) is preferred at level 9 Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions. Ability to interact with patients, Providers and staff in a professional manner. Ability to deliver outstanding customer service. Basic knowledge of medical terminology desired. Basic knowledge of healthcare billing insurance desired. Basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. What You'll Do: Manages the multi-line scheduling phone queue and transfers calls to appropriate personnel as needed.
