Responsibilities
In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in a patient's journey by:
* Performs diagnostic PET/CT or CT imaging procedures to include: injection of radio- pharmaceutical and/or IV contrast, the administration of oral contrast, protocol setup, patient positioning, reconstruction and filming of images, network image transfers, and archiving of image data.
* Assists in procedure scheduling and related front office functions to ensure smooth workflow.
* Ensures accuracy of patient demographic information, report distribution and patient files.
* Assists with the collection of clinical data for patient follow-up and development of teaching and educational information.
* Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor scanner performance.
* Reports all malfunctions and/or need for service to the proper company or facility.
* Responsible for patient data and films including printing, archiving, retrieval, network data transfers, tracking and logging of loaned films and requested outside films.
* Understands the contraindications associated with the administration of IV contrast, be able to recognize possible reactions and know the procedure to follow in the case of a reaction.
* Ordering of necessary office, medical, printing and archiving media
Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards and Shared Values.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiologic Technology, or from an AMA accredited program.
* Minimum four years experience in nuclear medicine, including two years of PET & CT experience.
* General knowledge of patient scheduling and billing systems. PET-CT certification required.
* CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) and/or ARRT (Nuclear) certification and state licensure are applicable.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.

* Oversee all front office functions; provide assistance and coverage for front office functions as required; work closely with the Practice Manager on personnel functions.

Comprehensive Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology, Interventional Radiology and Hospital Radiation Safety will be responsible for maintaining State and Federal regulatory requirements specific to the practice of radiation therapy and radiation safety at Carle Foundation Hospital. Comprehensive Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology, Interventional Radiology and Hospital Radiation Safety provides physics support for the following four (4) hospital units at Carle Health in Urbana: (1) Carle Cancer Institute and is responsible for quality control of all three linear accelerators in the radiation oncology department; (2) Interventional Radiology for intravascular administration of Y-90 radioactive therapy for patients with liver metastases; (3) Hospital Safety Department working with radiation safety officer on implementing all radiation safety measure for the entire hospital. Those measures are appropriate utilization of radiation safety precautions by hospital staff, proper dose monitoring in radiation exposure areas of the hospital, and proper licensing of all providers who are authorized users (AU) of radiation sources in the State of Illinois. Responsibilities
In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in a patient's journey by:
* Determine the need for, specify, and access dosimetry and treatment planning equipment including, but not limited to, measurement instruments to calibrate all treatment equipment and monitoring devices, computerized treatment planning systems, computerized water phantom systems with appropriate ionization chambers and diodes, film densitometry systems, etc.
* Participate in the specification, selection, and acceptance of radiation-producing machines, accessories, and computerized treatment-planning system. Supervises arrangements for proper maintenance of radiation treatment equipment.
* Periodically evaluate all equipment for continued utility, appropriateness, reliable performance, age, and condition and makes recommendations on practical life span, obsolescence, and replacement.
* Maintain responsibility for the design and implementation of the aspects of the quality management program that involve the use of the external beam radiotherapy equipment as well as the review and approval of the procedures followed by the radiation therapy staff.
* Advise and consult with physicians to provide advice or direction to technical staff when patients are being planned or treated.
* Develop protocols for performing and checking monitor units calculations to ensure all calculations agree with written prescription.
* Participate in chart rounds to ensure the fulfillment of the prescription and review any changes in dose and patient set-up.
* Compete all required documentation relating to radiation treatment plans and equipment.
* Participate in the clinical instruction of newly hired radiation staff and radiation therapy students.
* Conduct HDR and LDR brachytherapy procedures as needed.
* Direct the radiation oncology physics program, including the technical direction of medical dosimetrists, therapy equipment service engineers and other physics support staff.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Physics or Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.
* Must maintain certification and continuing education requirements outlined by American College of Radiology.
* Must pursue continuing education credits in the field.
