Responsibilities * Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician * Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician * Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans and drug reactions. Initiates appropriate action. * Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems * Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow * Phone triage as assigned * Documents all elements of care * Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants * Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider * Assesses patient and family needs Qualifications * Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education required; BSN preferred * Oncology experience strongly preferred * Current RN state license required * Current BCLS certification required * OCN certification preferred * Must be willing to travel between offices as needed WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
