An excellent understanding and use of grids, typography, color, etc. are essential for building quality, compelling products. The UI designer creates prototypes and wireframes, works closely with project teams and product management, documents the design in technical specs, and creates UI code (HTML, CSS) that can be utilized by the development team. The UI designer will also ensure that the design is consistent throughout. Staying up to date with the latest UI technologies is second nature to the right candidate and they'll also inherently possess the creativity to conceive new breakthrough UI approaches.
