    Title: Sr. UX Researcher with Retails Domain Duration: 12+ Months About the Role We're looking for a Lead UX Researcher to drive research for a next-generation retail technology system. This is a high-impact role focused on making a complex system intuitive, fast, and easy to learn for baristas. You'll be embedded in a cross-functional team (design, product, engineering, operations) that works in a rapid, iterative, user-centric process. Responsibilities Lead the research process for a cross-functional team, proactively planning research that drives the product roadmap in partnership with design, product, and engineering. Conduct qualitative and quantitative research in a rapid, iterative environment, with close cross-functional collaboration. Evaluate system usability in real-world environments, mocked up environments, our out-of-context as appropriate. Set prototype requirements, getting into design tools to collaborate as needed. Define and measure quantitative UX goals and metrics to evaluate success in early iteration phases as well as post-release. Assess product readiness for rollouts at increasing degrees of scale, ensuring user experience issues are identified early and effectively prioritized based on scale and severity. Translate insights into clear, actionable guidance for the cross-functional team. Become the expert on user needs in the product domain, telling compelling research-driven stories to influence leadership decisions. Qualifications 5+ years as a UX researcher embedded in a cross-functional team with a rapid, iterative process. 2+ years leading research, proactively planning research that drives the product roadmap. Hands-on experience driving the full user research lifecycle (study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, and communicating). Strong qualitative research skills, with an ability to use quantitative methods such as attitudinal surveys and benchmark usability testing as needed. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across business functions. Experience bringing technology products from concept to scaled release, preferably in a retail, food service, or other operational environment. A degree in Human Computer-Interaction, Human Factors, Information Systems, Cognitive Science, or a similar degree with a research component, or equivalent experience. Stays current on the latest UX trends, principles and strategies. Looks to the future - Introduces best practices, technology, innovation and creative troubleshooting. Answers employees, vendors or other customers by questions related to UX design, procedures and processes. Completes work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service. Background & Experience Required: This position requires a minimum of eight years progressive experience designing usable interfaces and interactions, preferably in a large multi-site organization; retail experience is a plus. Requires a thorough understanding of how visual and interactive design work together to create a superior product. Experience with consumer web-based products is necessary. Demonstrated expertise with Adobe Creative Suite and prototyping software (Sketch, InVision, etc.) is required. Familiar knowledge with HTML/CSS, Javascript are a plus. Proven experience conducting qualitative user research and usability testing is necessary. Proven organizational, strategic problem-solving and decision-making skills in the field of design are vital. Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization is necessary, specifically to clearly articulate complex technical ideas to a non-technical audience both verbally and in writing, particularly when communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale. Ability to motivate self and others while managing multiple projects and meeting various deadlines simultaneously is required. Proficiency with Microsoft office, including skills with Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint is necessary. Ability to extract ideas from key stakeholders, listen to new ideas and move the team along toward business objectives is vital.
