About Us
Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity's most useful inventions. At Google DeepMind, we're a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.
The Role
As a Senior Staff UX Researcher (L7), you will serve as the strategic anchor for Response Quality. This is not just about evaluating features; it is about defining the fundamental logic of the interface. You will be responsible for helping quantify success and creating scalable frameworks for the future of Generative AI. In this role, you will partner directly with Engineering and Product Leadership. You will ensure that our interaction models are scalable, intuitive, and cognitively efficient.
Key responsibilities:
Define Model Alignment & Interaction Standards: You will establish insights and principles to bridge the gap between model intelligence and interaction.

Executive Influence & Org Shaping: Act as an institutional authority on Human-AI interaction. You will synthesize complex, high-level insights to influence the roadmap at the VP/SVP level, shifting resource allocation and serving as an example of UXR influence across the organization.
Communicate with Clarity and Precision: Translate research findings into compelling narratives. You will produce high-quality written reports, presentations, and frameworks that clearly articulate the "so what" and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.

10+ years of experience in UserExperienceResearch, with a track record of driving strategic product direction.
Expertise in Mixed Methods: You can seamlessly move between qualitative depth (diary studies, interviews) and quantitative rigor (large-scale logs analysis, metrics definition).
Experience defining Platform/System Strategy: You have a history of creating frameworks that scale across multiple product verticals rather than shipping isolated features.
In addition, the following would be an advantage:
Master's degree or PhD in a related field.
Demonstrated experience working on AI-powered products (e.g., large language models, conversational AI, generative AI) and a robust understanding of the underlying technology and unique user challenges.
Ability to "speak the language" of Engineering to influence model training, RLHF pipelines, or UI framework implementation.
Proven ability to define the 1-2 year vision for a product category and align conflicting stakeholders (e.g., Design vs. Engineering) around a shared user truth.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a portfolio of work that demonstrates the ability to craft compelling narratives and impactful reports.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $224,000 USD - 315,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.

Senior Staff UX Researcher, Gemini App
Google 4.8
User experience researcher job in Seattle, WA
Snapshot + Join the Gemini UX Research team to define the future of AI interaction! + We are seeking a strategic research leader to architect the future of how Gemini responds to users. You will define the mental models and interaction standards that will govern the next generation of our models.
About Us
Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity's most useful inventions.
The Role
+ As a Senior Staff UX Researcher (L7), you will serve as the strategic anchor for Response Quality.
Architect Strategic Measurement & Future Opportunities: Lead insights into high-priority investment areas within the model landscape. You will invent rigorous methodologies to quantify complex user needs, creating the durable standards that guide the organization's long-term strategy.
Drive Product Impact through Strong Partnership: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineer, Research Science and Design leadership to translate complex research findings into actionable product and/or model insights. Your insights will directly influence the model and product roadmap.
Drive Engineering Efficiency & Scalability: Partner deeply with Engineering leadership to translate user needs into scalable frameworks. You will guide technical investment away from one-off "novelty" features and toward durable components that drive utility across all verticals (Shopping, Edu, etc.).
Elevate the UXR Practice: Act as a leader and mentor on the UXR team for Gemini. You will help build a culture of excellence by modeling best practices, providing guidance to other researchers, and raising the bar for research quality and impact across the team.
About You
In order to set you up for success as a UX Researcher at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:
+ Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
+ 10+ years of experience in UserExperienceResearch, with a track record of driving strategic product direction.
+ Expertise in Mixed Methods: You can seamlessly move between qualitative depth (diary studies, interviews) and quantitative rigor (large-scale logs analysis, metrics definition).
+ Experience defining Platform/System Strategy: You have a history of creating frameworks that scale across multiple product verticals rather than shipping isolated features.
In addition, the following would be an advantage:
+ Master's degree or PhD in a related field.
+ Demonstrated experience working on AI-powered products (e.g., large language models, conversational AI, generative AI) and a robust understanding of the underlying technology and unique user challenges.
+ Ability to "speak the language" of Engineering to influence model training, RLHF pipelines, or UI framework implementation.
+ Proven ability to define the 1-2 year vision for a product category and align conflicting stakeholders (e.g., Design vs. Engineering) around a shared user truth.
+ Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a portfolio of work that demonstrates the ability to craft compelling narratives and impactful reports.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $224,000 USD - 315,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
Application deadline:
