Major Responsibilities:
● Teaching responsibilities currently take place during the traditional fall, spring, and summer semesters.
● The Assistant DCE's primary responsibilities include managing full-time and integrated clinical education experiences by planning and coordinating with academic and clinical faculty, and integrating clinical education throughout the curriculum. The Assistant DCE is also responsible for communicating with and disseminating information to the individuals involved in the clinical education process, including those at the clinical education facilities. The Assistant DCE participates in and represents the program at regional, state, and national clinical education activities and programs. The Assistant DCE is in direct and continuous contact with academic faculty members regarding curricular issues related to clinical education. The Assistant DCE is responsible for keeping faculty informed of the overall performance of students throughout their clinical education experiences. At the end of each clinical education course, the Assistant DCE summarizes information about students' clinical performance and their ability to integrate academic knowledge, skills, and behaviors. This summary is presented to the faculty as part of the clinical education annual report.
● The primary responsibility is to assist the DCE in administering the clinical education program. As a DPT Program faculty member, the successful candidate will participate in advising undergraduate and graduate students, as well as providing professional mentoring.
The specific job responsibilities of the DCE are as follows…
60% Supervising students during full-time clinical education experiences:
* Clinical site visits and/or CCCE/CI supervision and development
* Assignment of students for clinical education experiences
* Clinical site development for ALL levels of clinical education experiences.
* May perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Education.
40% Administrative work along with Exxat platform management.

Education/Certification & Experience Qualifications:
● At a minimum, the candidate must have a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree, three years of full-time (or equivalent) post-licensure clinical practice, and two years of clinical practice as a SCCE or CI, or two years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and administration in a PT program.

Candidates with prior higher education teaching experience.

Accountabilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations
* warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards
* rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid
* notify the NYS DOH of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisen
* check all safety equipment is working properly on a daily basis, and report to the Aquatic Manager any equipment that is in need of repair
* successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics
* be on time and capable of performing tasks within team dynamics
* supervise all patrons in and around the pool area
AUXILIARY DUTIES:
* answer inquiries pertaining to the use of the pool
* move lane lines as directed
* direct all helpful suggestions from participants and others to direct supervisor
* attend scheduled in-service training
* maintain attendance and activity record and complete required reports
* provide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker rooms
* assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas and facilities
Requirements
Professional Experience/ Qualifications
* Requires knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize hazardous situations, and adopt effective courses of action
* Requires effective communication skills and the ability to engage positively with the public
* Requires attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviors
* Requires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniques
* Requires current CPR/AED, First Aid & Lifeguard certifications - We provide training on site
* Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for professional rescuers and First Aid certification and/or beachfront certification
* Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students within a university context
Preferred Qualifications Education Physical Requirements
* Requires ability to frequently sit, kneel, stand, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.

Work Schedule
