Summary of Responsibilities The Standardized Patient (SP) will portray patients in on-campus simulated clinical scenarios to assist nursing students in developing communication, assessment, and clinical skills. SPs will follow detailed case scripts and provide feedback to learners under faculty supervision. This recruitment is to establish a diverse applicant pool for future on-call SP vacancies. The college hires SPs on a temporary/hourly, quarter by quarter basis, dependent on enrollment and class need. If you are selected for an interview for a potential future vacancy, a college representative will contact you. * Accurately and consistently portray a patient's history, symptoms, and emotional state according to provided case materials. * Participate in simulated clinical encounters, including physical assessments (non-invasive) and communication exercises. * Wear/use simulated medical equipment and costumes (e.g., oxygen mask, nasal cannula, blood pressure cuff, patient gown, walker, crutches, wigs, glasses, etc.). * Memorize and maintain case details to ensure consistency across multiple student interactions. * Provide constructive feedback to students on communication and interpersonal skills when requested. * Maintain confidentiality of all student performance and program materials. * Attend required training sessions and adhere to program guidelines. * Signed Lake Washington Institute of Technology Standardized Patient Consent, Assumption of risk, release, and waiver of liability agreement once hired. * May not be a current employee or enrolled at Lake Washington Institute of Technology. * Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to memorize and accurately recall case details. * Comfortable with role-playing and receiving direction from faculty. * Reliable and punctual; flexible schedule for on-call assignments. * No prior medical experience required (training provided). * Must be able to sit or lie down for extended periods and tolerate light physical examination (e.g., listening to heart/lungs, checking pulse, etc. no invasive procedures will be performed). * Acting or improvisation experience preferred. * Experience in healthcare simulation preferred.
