POSITION OVERVIEW

Assist in school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing.
Performs nursing assessment for students who are ill or injured; applies appropriate theory as basis for providing first aid, nursing care, intervention and referrals for those students.
Evaluates nursing care provided and changes plan of care as necessary.
Maintains accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law, and Board of Education policies.
Intervenes as guided by the nursing care plan to implement nursing actions that promote, maintain or restore health, prevent illness and effect rehabilitation.
Reports to parents, school district personnel, physicians, clinics, and others as needed to meet student health needs.
Provides medical assessment to school district employees as requested.
Notifies the appropriate person or agency of student's injury/illness in accordance with Board policy as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Registered professional nurse, designated as R.N. as defined and determined by state law, and currently licensed in the state
Current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

The Nemours Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team (CCTT) operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week to stabilize and transport sick and injured children. Our teams consist of two to four health care professionals, of which two are typically nurses. Direct medical command is supplied by board-certified pediatric intensivists. The CCTT nurse assumes responsibility and is accountable for the delivery and management of expert, specialty care of the critically ill or injured neonate, infant, child, or adolescent during inter-facility pediatric transports. Principal admitting diagnoses includes prematurity, respiratory illnesses, neurological disorders and trauma patients. The team uses specially-designed equipment to maintain or exceed the level of care provided by referring facilities, to include multi-parameter vital-sign monitors, high-flow oxygen delivery units, mechanical ventilators, Nitric Oxide delivery units, cooling units, compact infusion pumps and defibrillator/external pacemakers. Advanced procedures performed by CCTT staff include vascular access (intravenous and intraosseous), endotracheal intubation, chest decompression and advanced airway management.

The Postpartum program is for new RNs who desire to work within Maternal/Child nursing. Postpartum nurses have the unique ability to influence and educate families in a positive manner. They enable the family to start forming as a cohesive unit in order to confidently care for their baby. Upon completion of this program, resident nurses will have the knowledge and ability to skillfully assess new babies and mothers as well as provide extensive care and education to the family.
The Postpartum (Mother/Baby) Residency is for new RNs and those with less than 12 month's experience who desire to work within Maternal/Child nursing. Postpartum nurses care for both the mother and the newborn simultaneously, ensuring that the mother is stable, and the newborn is transitioning safely to extrauterine life. They provide extensive education to the family on newborn care and development as well as important after-birth care education for the mother.
The Postpartum Unit also has a Continuing Care Nursery where newborns exposed to substance use disorder are cared for after the mother has been discharged. These newborns require extensive monitoring and possibly medication to allow them to transition through the withdrawal period.
The Postpartum nurse residency is a demanding 24-week preceptor led clinical training program on the Postpartum floors, complemented with educational workshops specific to Postpartum nursing, emphasizing both the mother and the newborn. Orientation also includes the Continuing Care Nursery and the specific knowledge and skill required to successfully care for NOWS newborns. The program is followed by continued residency meetings during months 8, 10, and 12 to further develop as professional nurses and integral members of our caregiver team.
Upon successful program completion, participants will be hired as a staff nurse within the Postpartum area at ChristianaCare health system. Nurse residents are required to pass State Boards and be licensed as a RN in the State of Delaware prior to starting position. Upon hire, a commitment agreement to work at the ChristianaCare will be signed. The agreement requires completion of two years within ChristianaCare and 15 months of those two years on the unit of hire. Individuals unable to fill this commitment will be charged $10,000.

The CCTT nurse assumes responsibility and is accountable for the delivery and management of expert, specialty care of the critically ill or injured neonate, infant, child, or adolescent during inter-facility pediatric transports. Principal admitting diagnoses includes prematurity, respiratory illnesses, neurological disorders and trauma patients. The team uses specially-designed equipment to maintain or exceed the level of care provided by referring facilities, to include multi-parameter vital-sign monitors, high-flow oxygen delivery units, mechanical ventilators, Nitric Oxide delivery units, cooling units, compact infusion pumps and defibrillator/external pacemakers. Advanced procedures performed by CCTT staff include vascular access (intravenous and intraosseous), endotracheal intubation, chest decompression and advanced airway management.

Requirements
ASN required (must obtain BSN within 3 years)
2-3 ICU experience required ; NICU preferred
At least two (2) years of recent critical care nursing experience required; pediatric experience preferred
Nursing Licenses: DE required to start. MD, PA, NJ to be obtained within 90 days of hire.
American Heart Association BLS required for hire.
Must have PALS, ACLS certification or obtain within 90 days of hire
Must obtain ENPC, TNCC, Stable and NRP within one (1) year of date of hire
Must obtain PHRN and DE EMT certification within two (2) years of hire
National accredited nursing certification preferred
Previous Transport experience preferred
PA background check required
Bilingual preferred
The CCTT transports on average ten (10) patients daily. Ninety (90) percent of patients are transported by ambulance; the remaining patients are flown by helicopter. Patient placement includes specialty care units such as pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, cardiac intensive care, burn units, emergency and surgical units, as well as the general pediatric floors. In addition to performing inter-hospital transports, the CCTT staff assists with patient care in the PICU, NICU, and ED, and serves as resources to other nursing units within the hospital. The Nemours CCTT is honored to be one of only a few pediatric transport teams to offer and successfully transport patients on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO).

Given tremendous growth, our Advanced Heart Failure/Mechanical Circulatory Support Program is actively looking for an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team of 4 Heart Failure Physicians and 3 APC's. Our team strives to provide the highest level of care to this complex patient population.
By joining our dedicated team, you will become a key team member who provides high level care in both the inpatient and outpatient clinical arenas at Christiana Hospital. With more than 2,000 primary heart failure discharges per year, you will have every opportunity to make a significant impact on the outcomes of our heart failure population. The NP/PA will also be required to maintain on-call coverage in a rotating call schedule with the other 3 APC's for the LVAD program (must be within a 45 minute response time of the hospital while on call). Generous compensation for on-call coverage is provided.
You will have the opportunity to continue to expand your knowledge through ongoing educational offerings including core lectures, M&M conferences, grand rounds, journal club and multidisciplinary meetings. Additionally, the hospital system provides an annual allowance for attendance at national conferences, allowing you to expand your knowledge of the most cutting edge research there is in the management of heart failure and LVAD patients. This allowance also can be used for maintaining licensure and certification fees.

Education and Experience Requirements
Master's Degree in Nursing (nurse practitioner) or Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification required
2 years experience as an NP or PA, with emphasis in cardiology/HF/LVAD preferred (will consider new graduates or those without experience)
ACLS required
Licensure or license eligible in the state of Delaware
Annual Compensation Range $115,474.00 - $143,579.00This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
