About the opportunity:
The Behavioral Health Technician I is a member of the Vail Health Behavioral Health (VHBH)'s multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment team, assisting with patient care and supporting a therapeutic setting. In addition to direct patient care, this position is responsible for documentation and ensures all programming is aligned with internal, local, state, federal, and regulatory standards of care and compliance.

About the opportunity:
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a pivotal role in supporting the care and treatment of patients within the Precourt Healing Center (PHC). This position involves providing direct care to individuals experiencing behavioral health issues, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment, and assisting in the implementation of treatment plans under the guidance of clinical staff.
This position is PRN or as needed.
What you will need:
Provides direct patient care including obtaining and recording vital signs, assistance with daily living activities, crisis intervention, emotional support, education, maintaining patient documentation, and completing administrative duties.
Responsible for working with the treatment team to develop and deliver culturally responsive, trauma informed, and developmentally appropriate curriculum for both group and individual patient engagement.
Monitors and assists patients with daily living activities including documentation of routine safety checks.
Provides emotional support and encouragement to patients, as well as staff, by fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
Provides direct patient care for crisis intervention and behavior management, utilizing de-escalation techniques as needed.
Maintains a clean and organized environment conducive to recovery. Ensures cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in patient care areas. Replaces supplies depleted on a daily basis. Cleans and prepares patient care areas, equipment, and tools. Completes shift opening and closing procedures.
Serves to create a therapeutic milieu through engagement in activities and patient engagement.
Accurately documents patient behaviors, interactions, and progress in medical records reporting any significant changes in patient condition or behavior to nursing and clinical staff promptly.
Actively participates in treatment team meetings to discuss patient care and contribute input on care plans.
Collaborates effectively with the PHC treatment team, as well as team members across the behavioral health service line, and the entire health system.
Participates in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills related to patient care in behavioral health settings.
Educates patients and their families about behavioral health issues, patient rights, treatment processes, and coping strategies, as appropriate.
Ensures compliance with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance including quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Experience:

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Care Technician performs patient care in support of the rest of the care team. Often is the first point-of-contact for the patient and the one who is available for regular check-in with the patient. This role is important in relaying information between the patient and the provider.

Assists with the surgical care of the patient in the operating room. Duties include, but are not exclusive of stocking, pulling cases for the next day, pulling instruments, cleaning OR after cases, replenishing and preparation of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment. Functions as a member of the surgical team by assisting and anticipating needs of the surgeon. Maintains current education in aseptic technique, routine operating room procedures, and all other duties as assigned.

Scrub person functions with working knowledge of aseptic technique and AORN Standards.
Checks all items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal and packaging integrity, sterile indicator if present, and expiration dates.
Maintains sterile integrity of all items and fluids introduced onto the field.
Monitors sterile field for events that may contaminate field and corrective action initiated.
When moving within or around a sterile field does so in a manner to maintain the integrity of the sterile field.
Prior to use, all equipment is visually checked for fraying of cords and plugs or other damage.
When turning on machine, confirms self test pattern as necessary.
Anticipates need for equipment and supplies as evidenced by no delays in procedures.
Knows the order in use of material and supplies.
Reports changes in temperature of room to appropriate person.
Perceptive to patient's sensory environment.
Monitors, evaluates and revised preference cards.
Contributes to the individualized, ongoing delivery of care with in the scope of practice.
Maintains flexibility and appropriate response to changes in priorities, established plans, goals or time frames.

Assists licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation, and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia. Contribute to safe, efficient, and cost-effective anesthesia care. Prepare and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during, and after anesthesia.
What you will do:
Maintains and organizes anesthesia equipment and supplies. Prepares needed anesthesia supplies/equipment prior to case start.
