Pros of working at Vail Resorts

Connection to other resorts has benefits

Cons of working at Vail Resorts

I was shocked to discover how disorganized & unprofessional Vail resorts was. Quite frankly in my over 20 years teaching skiing (or in my other "day jobs"), I have never seen any employer so incompetent. Vail is spending way too much time buying new resorts up (like mine) to put any time in to actually figure out how to run an eastern resort. They've taken great ski areas & made them horrible. Customers are pissed & leaving as well as many valued former employees. How bad does it have to be before they either sell to someone else or hire someone to get it together! Unbelievable & heartbreaking!

Pros of working at Vail Resorts

Team spirit: the diversity of the team members offers great opportunity to discover passions, traditions and open one's mind to a global picture of the world. The diversity and inclusion of all ages and origins made for a dynamic, interactive and collaborative environment.

Cons of working at Vail Resorts

No room for individuality: It's the company's way pushed from the top down. While the upper level is offered relocation program and can afford multi-million dollar housing and be offered flexibility in being present for launching a season in a newly acquired resort, the lower level employees are unable to afford housing close, have to commute and are penalized when absent.

Vail Resorts benefits

Lift tickets. It would have been nice to also have transportation and housing reimbursement.

Cons of working at Vail Resorts

Lack of vertical movement opportunities given my years of management experience and portable skills. Compensation and appreciation not commensurate with my experience and contributions. I miss world travel and leading a progressive team to reach challenging and strategic goals. I also miss participating in technical and intellectual conversations required to solve complex problems.
