The Role:
As a Mission Engineer (Full Stack) in the Mission Applications Group, you will develop and deploy software essential for a specific, real-world objective or "mission" in partnership with our customers. You have: 1) expertise in developing and deploying software solutions in complex and high-security environments, 2) deep domain knowledge in the complex missions executed across the Department of Defense, and 3) expertise in modern javascript frameworks and integrating APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, Kafka) seamlessly into frontend applications for deployment in high-security environments.
You will work as a leader of tightly knit Agile software teams to design, develop, and maintain software systems deployed in operational use. Job Summary

Responsibilities
Architecture, Design & Implementation
* Design and implement OT network security controls, such as perimeter firewalls, internal segmentation, site‑to‑site and remote‑access VPNs, and WAFs.
* Build secure network solutions that align with system architecture for wind, solar, and BESS facilities, EMS/SCADA, and the system control centers.
* Define network security zones and conduits for OT, corporate IT, and cloud environments; enforce least privilege and micro‑segmentation.
* Engineer solutions using Cisco (ASA/Firepower/FTD) and Check Point (CCSA/CCSE) platforms; integrate with management consoles and policy orchestration tools.
* Implement secure remote access for operators, vendors, and field technicians using MFA, bastion/Jump hosts, and role‑based access.

* Administer firewall policies, objects, NAT, routing (OSPF/BGP), and HA/cluster configurations; manage rule lifecycle and clean‑up.

The Fixed Equipment Engineer will work under the guidance of an experienced Engineer to set long-term equipment reliability goals, evaluate technical assessments.
Under the guidance of an experienced Engineer, develop Fixed Equipment Engineer critical equipment and bad actor list for their business team.
Under the guidance of an experienced Engineer, review technical and economic analysis of repairs to justify engineering improvement and recommended priorities.
Support the implementation of risk-based and inspection strategies for equipment assets including piping, vessels, reactors, fired heaters, boilers, and other appropriate HC processing equipment.
Communication Responsibilities
Maintain effective lines of communication across the refinery including the Inspection group, Maintenance, Operations, Process Engineering, etc.
Ensure appropriate communication / work with Inspections, Process Engineers, and Operations in predicting failures and proactively provide resolutions to reliability issues.
Turnaround Responsibilities
Under the guidance of an experienced Engineer, participate in the Risk Based Work Selection (RBWS) process for turnaround scope development.
Under the guidance of an experienced Engineer, ensure appropriate turnaround engineering package development support during scope development, as well as timely and accurate mechanical engineering solutions for outage discovery work.
Reporting & Documentation
Complete assigned Reliability Department Reports.
Follow the program to maintain neat and orderly mechanical/fixed equipment engineering files.
Unit Upsets & Outages / Mechanical Troubleshooting
Provide fixed equipment engineering coverage during unit upsets and outages and ensure effective communication through accurate shift updates and shift turnover.
Ensure appropriate regular updates are issued during shutdowns/startups, ongoing unit upsets and critical troubleshooting.

Job Description
HII Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced Avionics Engineer to help support our customer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. This role will need an understanding of DoD, Air Force as well as common engineering/scientific principles, processes and procedures that allows for translating user requirements into weapons system, requirements. This will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate weapons systems, subsystems and ,equipment for eventual fielding and deploying.
Essential Job Responsibilities
+ Shall assist in performing technological/trade-off assessments of proposed designs/modifications as well as translating user requirements into system requirements, which will be used to design, develop, fabricate, test and evaluate systems, subsystems.
+ Shall assist in providing support to produce or review products that include the following: technical evaluations/plans; engineering studies, reports, and analyses; and acquisition strategies/plans such as: System Specification; RFPs; Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Acceptance Procedures (ATPs); and Spectrum Supportability Determinations.
+ Shall support as necessary project team meetings, working groups, and reviews as needed, such as: SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, TCM, TIM, FCA, PCA, PMR, and other meetings/working groups/reviews as applicable.
+ Shall assist in analyzing equipment and software deficiencies; make recommendations for equipment and software deficiency corrections; and assist in developing, integrating, and testing equipment and software deficiency solutions.
+ Shall support systems analyses to include, but not be limited to, avionics system design/design feasibility and state-of-the-art assessment and developing systems/subsystem specifications and provide technical advice on the path forward to installation of the new hardware and software into the system and subsystems
+ Shall support and assist performance effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life-cycle cost, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments, and scheduling trade-off studies.
Minimum Qualifications
9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
+ Experience in design and troubleshooting of Avionics subsystems such systems as Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (EGPWS), Transponders, Traffic Collision Alert System (TCAS), Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), Very High Frequency (VHF), Ultra High Frequency (UHF), High Frequency (HF) Radios, Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Multi-Mode Receivers (MMR) and Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR).
+ Working knowledge in the area of NAV displays, data buses (MIL-STD-1553B and ARINC-429), test planning and conduct, sustainment and operations covering airborne vehicles' avionics subsystems and FAA and Air Force airworthiness/certification process and procedures.
+ Working knowledge of technical documents, determining sufficiency for demonstrating compliance with specifications and airworthiness means of compliance, summarizing findings, recommended changes, and communicating all results to program offices.
+ Has performed engineering evaluation of prime and subcontractor recommendations for operational and support issues including but not limited to evaluations of Engineering Change Notices, Engineering Change Proposals, Contract Change Proposal, FAA bulletins, modification proposals, program risk, and related documents.

+ FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) certification highly desirable with a firm understanding of FAA regulations as they apply to Airworthiness Certification for Commercial and Commercial Derivative Military Aircraft (CDMA) as well as Military Air Worthiness in accordance with AFPD 62-6 USAF Airworthiness requirements and MIL-HDBK-516C Airworthiness Certification Criteria.
+ Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Notices of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRMs) and Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Alternate Methods of Compliance (AMOCs) for AD's. as well as development of STC packages.
