Valdese Weavers company history timeline
Valdese Weavers traces its roots back to the Swiss Embroidery Company founded in 1915 by Italian immigrants called the Waldensians who settled in Valdese, North Carolina around the turn of the Century.
Still making furniture there, too, is Century Furniture, a company Harley Shuford, a grandson of A.A. Shuford, started in 1947.
In 1974, a new and modern one-story facility was constructed on the outskirts of Valdese and is now the foundation of our current manufacturing facility.
In 1996, the Shuford family sold a minority interest in parent company CV Industries to fewer than 500 of its employees.
In 2004, Valdese Weavers entered the Contract market, expanding its product focus to include the office seating and systems, and hospitality marketplace.
They acquired the Duck tape brand in 2009.
