Pros of working at Valley Health System

Staff at all levels seem vested in the hospital and many more stay more than a little while, and also - more importantly - encourage their family and friends to work here.

Cons of working at Valley Health System

Staff at all levels seem genuinely invested in the hospital and many more stay more than a little while, and also - more importantly - encourage their family and friends to work here...so, they do not vacate the positions you may aspire to that easily.

Valley Health System benefits

I like that Valley adapted to nonessential employees working remotely from home during Covid, without missing a beat, and let this policy remain intact to this day.

What do you like best about Valley Health System's CEO and the leadership team?

What I like best about the CEO and the leadership team is that they share the wealth. When something good happens at Valley, it happens to all of us. We all get to share on the proud feelings and celebrate. We all have a stake in this hospital. We all are a reflection of Valley Health.

How would you improve Valley Health System's culture?

I would improve the company culture by continuing to be even more inclusive and striving to bring more diversity and inclusion in the staff ratios as well as the patient population. I would make it a point to reach beyond the current community even further, to include a sister site(s) - that might not even be part of V alley Health, yet, into the fold, then watch us collaborate and reap the benefits.

How did you prepare for the Valley Health System interview?

I actually prepared for the interviews by really studying what was advertised in the position I sought. I made sure I had examples and descriptions of everything I bought to the table with me. I made sure I had a pen and paper to take notes of questions I had when each person introduced themselves- especially their names and positions. I made sure I'd had enough sleep and arrived early for the interview. I made sure I had a counter offer prepared in case I needed one (or two). I ensured I really wanted the position, so my enthusiasm was leaking out of my pores. I made sure I prepared my "Why are you leaving your present position?" response with the right amount of humbleness to leave after all I'd been taught by my former company, and the correct amount of urgency to try and expand my skills and talents in a better place. I made sure to mention that practically everyone I spoke to from Valley had either been there for a while and/or had relatives and friends who also worked there, for a long while. I prepared by making sure I knew the history of Valley as well as I could. Oh, yeah, and I was also a qualified candidate with the background and references to back up my skills. I prepared for the interview by being more than ready for it, and, apparently it worked because I got the position I wanted.

How does your compensation at Valley Health System compare to the industry average?

In my experience, the compensation at Valley Health when compared to the industry average is about the same as some and slightly above others - depending on where you live. The difference is how I feel about working there, and I feel great.

What's the diversity at Valley Health System like?

The representation of diverse demographics at Valley Health System is better than some I've seen, and not as good as others I've noticed - and they are, at least, trying to be more diverse and inclusive. The difference is the majority of people I talk to want to be there and are very proud to work for this organization.

What brings you the most joy at Valley Health System?

Personally the most fulfilling ASPECTS of my work at Valley Health are: The opportunity to belong not just to the Valley Health organization, but to feel proud of the accomplishments made and achievements named and celebrated. It also makes me feel good to be able to include my family and friends in some of the social events and aspects held by the Valley Health System - whether it's donations to charity, community events to bolster the hospital (or for the surrounding community itself), or just random, general celebrations periodically sprinkled in that I'm glad to attend. When you work for Valley it's not always just about work. It's also about having a purpose to get up in the morning, feeling capable of doing your best and being relied upon for helping out an organization and the surrounding community, that I am now so much a part of, too. All that - and they pay me for what I'd (almost) do for free.
