The Valley Intern Program (VIP) is a unique and challenging 9-week experience for diverse, talented and motivated students interested in gaining relevant experience in their specific area of study within the banking industry. As a Valley intern you will be part of a team and work on projects that enable you to gain real-world skills and experience -- integrating academic learning with practical application. We offer the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to grow professionally and contribute to the end results of the assigned projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Support your manager in performing research and/or analysis on specific topics. Independently complete tasks that contribute to larger projects relevant to the assigned department. Participate in meetings and team discussions to gain insight and contribute to the team's goals or projects. Communicate with team members and other departments to coordinate work, gather information and develop final work products. Join team building activities to establish cross functional relationships within the Valley community. Participate in VIP Mentorship Program meetings with your mentor to enhance your business acumen, network with senior leaders and develop technical and professional skills. Document and report on progress and results of projects and tasks. Attend professional development sessions/classes. Other Responsibilities: Participate in VIP (Valley Intern Program) hosted events,trainings and projects including Valley Week of Service, Culture Workshops and final project presentations. The Community Branch Internship Program is a 10-week summer internship centered around customer service, professional development, career growth and building the necessary interpersonal skills to succeed within Retail Banking. Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves into the M&T Bank Culture to gain an understanding of our engagement and belonging efforts along with community initiatives. Interns will gain exposure through guest speakers and industry leaders, workshop trainings, and a built-in network with peers as well as priority consideration for full time opportunities throughout the Bank. **Primary Responsibilities:** + Play a key role in Customer Relationship Management through proactive outreach and servicing and will be responsible for identifying financial need of customers and presenting appropriate options, onboarding new customers, and establishing trust with existing customers. + Service our customers to gain fundamental understanding of Retail Banking. + Complete duties and responsibilities of an entry-level professional nature specific to assigned area of the Bank. + Ensure activities adhere to established internal policies and external regulations as applicable. + Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist the Chief Diversity - Inclusion Officer and team in the implementation and execution of projects related to the organization's (DEI) initiatives. Assist with analyzing data from employee engagement surveys and other data sources. Work on DEI initiatives and programs, which includes working with our Associate Resource Groups, talent development and learning programs, events, marketing and communications. Provide administrative support to virtual DEI workshops, training and Associate Resource Group meetings.
