Patient Access Representative Job At Valley View Hospital
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
Performs data entry related to charging, logging and quantifying Cath Lab/CVOR Department activities.
Enhances the communication between Cath Lab/CVOR, hospital departments and physician office staff.
Functions as a patient charge specialist and remains professional and positive when dealing with stressful situations and multiple demands related to the operation of the Cath Lab/CVOR Department.
Completes daily patient charge clarification/analysis of correct surgical services charges.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Daily patient charges are placed into Meditech
Checks each case preference card with patient charge sheets
Follows up on complete record documentation pre-operative/intra-operative and post-operative
Checks for items that are not being charged (missed by staff)
Completing processes for services that are new or not being charged for
Verifies and enters vendor charges
Verifies all phases of Operative record charges
Completes procedure and infusion charge sheets
Audits all phases and charting of the complete patient stay while in Surgical Services
Assumes the initiative in fulfilling own needs for continuing education and maintaining own clinical expertise.
Participates in in-service education.
Is integral member of the ORM team and collaborates with Materials Management
Displays a helpful, professional, positive attitude when communicating with all customers.
Performs daily activities and maintains workflow for surgical services.
Coordinates and handles special projects as assigned.
Keeps up to date of applicable computer programs and applications.
Keeps up to date of appropriate activities and events occurring within the organization.
Tracks research variances as requested.
Responsible for instrument and equipment ordering, research and implementation.
Maintains ORM systems in collaboration with Surgery Manager.
Maintains Craneware and Meditech ORM chargeability and accuracy.
Responsible for instrument and equipment ordering, research and implementation.
Other duties as required for the efficient operation of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive experience with various coding sets, including a strong command of medical ICD-10 codes, CPT medical billing codes, and full revenue cycle management is a plus.
Excellent communication skills are paramount for interactions with patients, insurance companies, and stakeholders
Strong knowledge of medical ICD-10 codes and CPT medical billing codes
Strong knowledge of insurance claims processing and claims resolution
Knowledgeable on insurance and reimbursement process
Familiarity with electronic health record systems or the ability to learn electronic health system modules necessary for billing and payment management
Familiarity with HIPAA privacy requirements for patient information
Ability to maintain the security of sensitive and confidential information
Certified Health Unit Clerk desired
1 year in hospital as a unit clerk or similar experience.
SALARY RANGE
$20.41 to $30.02/hour
Entry salary dependent upon education, skill-set, and experience.

Acquires Insurance Authorization for Rehab patients when needed * 3. Communicates with Rehab staff patient's benefits and authorization request status
* 4. Communicates directly with patients in regard to their therapy benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* High School graduate or equivalent
* One to two years of customer service experience required.
