to join our OR Team and float to the Surgery Center in Basalt when needed.
Valley View Hospital is a Level III trauma center with 5 state-of-the-art surgical suites. We offer Robotics (Exactech, Mako, Stealth, DaVinci), General, Eyes, Ortho, Brain/Spine, OB-GYN, ENT, Neuro, Plastics, Urology, ENT, Trauma.
We have 2 positions available with Multiple shifts to choose from, all with call/weekend rotations:
Working 3-12 hour shifts 0700 - 1930 (Full time)
Working 4-10 hour shifts 0700 - 1730 (Full time)
Working 2-12 hour shifts 0700-1930 (Part time)

Emergency Department Tech Full-Time

Valley View is a Level III Trauma Hospital located on the Western Slope of Colorado. We have a 13-bed ED with 2 Trauma bays. As a member of the Emergency Department team, the ED Tech will provide patient care under the direction of ED Physicians and RNs.
**Great Schedule! Full-time mid shift 11am-11pm! **
Primary duties include but are not exclusive to:
Assisting with transport of patients within the hospital.
Assisting with the following patient care activities:
Vital signs, including placement of EKG leads for ongoing cardiac monitoring
12 lead EKG (s)
Assisting patients with ambulation associated with ongoing care in the ED through discharge
IV starts
Collecting lab samples
Assisting with patient positioning during procedures or other patient care activities
Documentation of care given, with patient response.
Assist with the cleaning and turnover of ED rooms.
Stocking of supplies in rooms and specialty carts.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association
EMT-I (Intermediate) or EMT-P (Paramedic) is strongly preferred.
Will consider EMT-Basic with IV Certification but preferred not required.
ED Tech or Emergency Room experience is preferred.

SALARY:
$20.41/hour - $30.02/hour
Entry salary dependent upon education, skill set, and experience
$2.25/hour evening shift differential when working a minimum of 4 consecutive hours between 3:00pm-11:30pm
$2.25/hour weekend differential when working 5 or more continuous hours from 7pm Friday to 7am Monday.

The Surgical Technologist and/or the Certified Surgical Technologist prepares the room and gathers supplies needed for surgical procedures; delivers instruments and supplies to the surgeon and other members of the surgical team intra operatively; may function as second assistant to the surgeon; assists in the proper decontamination of the room, supplies and instruments post operatively.

Prepares for surgical cases by obtaining and preparing appropriate supplies, equipment and instruments, reviews surgeon's preferences to determine required items. Establishes and maintains a sterile field and presents instruments to the operating team. Delivers appropriate instruments/supplies utilizing proper principles of sterile technique. Acts as 2nd assistant to surgeon, performing duties related to draping and operative site exposure. Responsible for removal of all sharps and initials return card for verification. Can hold extremities. Assist with casting and splinting. Mixes medications on the sterile field once verification by a registered nurse has occurred. Assist with positioning, can fix specimens in formalin (annual competency required), assists circulator in proper care and handling of surgical specimens. Can wash and thaw grafts, can hold a stapler while surgeon fires it, can operate skin stapler for the purpose of wound approximation and can assist with the dislocation of joints if yearly competency is accomplished. Can cut suture material as directed by and under the supervision of a surgeon, Can apply ESU to clamps or forceps for hemostasis under the direct supervision of the surgeon, can assist anesthesia if yearly competency is accomplished, Can assist with patient skin prep if yearly competency is accomplished, Can change out camera and robotic instruments during endoscopic procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon, Can manipulate the uterus during robotic cases under the direct supervision of the surgeon.

Equipment and Supply Maintenance: Assists in post-procedure cleaning of the OR/equipment, returns equipment/supplies to proper areas; assists in room re-stocking. May run dart/biologics for sterilizers (annual competency required), reports any damaged equipment appropriately, mops floor between cases, and ensures that all equipment cords are not frayed and free from cuts as well as other duties as assigned.

Unit Operations: Participates in unit operations to contribute to efficiency of department, effective communication, quality care, personal growth as well as development, training, and orientation of new personnel. Maintains all annual unit specific competencies, ACE and PAR requirements. Will mentor new associates. CAN DO: Can mix medications on the sterile field, following verification with an RN. Can deliver medications to the sterile field if an RN is in scrub role. Can run dart / biologics for sterilizers if annual competency has been met. The CST/FA provides patient care under the direct supervision of the surgeon and works collaboratively with other care team members, the physicians and the patient/family to achieve the optimal patient outcomes. The position has access to confidential patient information and makes decisions in collaboration with others. This individual works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager. When functioning in surgery, this individual works under the supervision of the Physician who is readily available.
Required Education: Graduate of an Accredited Program in Surgical Technology
Required Certifications, Credentials, and Licenses: Current certification as a Certified First Assist (CFA or CSA). current CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation/BLS - Basic Life Support certification. Certification in First Assisting
The Registered Nurse, First Assist (RNFA) provides professional nursing care through the application of nursing skills and process to develop, implement and evaluate patient's plan of care. The RNFA, as the primary care giver, provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other care team members, the physician and the patient/family to achieve the optimal patient outcomes.
