Medical Office Specialists are health care professionals that will work in the frontdesk or office area of a healthcare provider's clinic to manage communications with patients, insurers, and medical staff. Medical Office Specialists must have the ability to communicate and interact well with the patients, providers and co-workers. Our Medical Office Specialist are key members of the team that will ensure that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Universal Health Services.
Position Summary:
Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians/nurses with various procedures, charting; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information is completed and accurate.

Key responsibilities this position will perform include:
Determines family dynamics and assesses the family's understanding of the patient's prognosis when appropriate to initiate the donation discussion.
Initiates the donation discussion and authorization process for potential organ and tissue donor families prior to, during and after death declaration. Provides families with the detailed information required to give legal informed authorization for anatomical donation.
Responds on site independently and/or in conjunction with assigned staff to all appropriate hospital referrals within designated time outlined per policy and procedure.
Communicates with the attending physician and other members of the healthcare team to establish rapport and ensure a collaborative planned approach for the donation discussion and authorization process.

Provides education to hospital staff regarding authorization, family care process and donation process.

The Family Care Coordinator will work between 12 - 15 days per month - and be on call for periods of up to 24 hours.
The ideal candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree
2 - 4 years of healthcare experience with families, counseling, bereavement, and/or crisis intervention
Knowledge of medical and legal principles of authorization, donor evaluation, and management.
Exceptional teamwork, communication, and conflict management skills.
Valid Driver's license with ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements.

Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating the referral/authorization of the clinic and assisting the Director in the operational performance of the Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD). Facilitates the flow of information between individuals, departments, physicians and leadership to progress toward organizational goals and achieve timely solutions to problems.

WHAT IS BIRTH TISSUE DONATION?
Did you know your baby's birth tissue could be used to benet someone else? Often, the birth tissue is discarded along with medical waste. But with your donation, this same birth tissue can help dozens of others.
Placenta donation, or birth tissue recovery, is a program of Sierra Donor Services that utilizes the birth tissue's remarkable ability to heal. After the baby's birth, the birth tissue's cellular components and amniotic membrane can be repurposed to create products for wound healing, scar tissue repair, and wound tissue regeneration.
Birth tissue can be used for face and eye injuries, burns, oral surgeries, spine surgeries, diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, bed sores, and a variety of other soft tissue healing.
Below are some of the key accountabilities this position will hold:

The **Patient Coordinator** is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.
**Specific duties include, but are not limited to:**
+ Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
+ Will perform patient registration in various systems.

Patient Assistance:

Work Area & Supply Preparation

+ May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.

+ May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
+ Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.

**Position Requirements:**
+ High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
+ For Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
+ For Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.
+ As applicable, valid state driver's license required.
+ Ability to work at several locations required.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
+ Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
+ Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.
+ The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.
+ All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
**Preferred**
+ Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
+ Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

Register patients, update patient records, verify insurance accurately and timely, and check patients out
Determine, collect, and process patient payments and address collection and billing issues
Respond promptly to customer needs, provide excellent customer service, assist patients with follow-up appointments, and fulfill medical documentation requests
Balance daily patient charges (cash, check, credit cards) against system reports
Complete closing procedures by preparing closing documentation and submitting required reports
Complete cash control procedures and secure financial assets
Maintain complete and accurate documentation
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent. Previous medical clerical experience preferred. Basic computer knowledge, e.g., Microsoft Office. Accuracy and detail orientation. Positive customer service skills. Well-groomed appearance. Clear and articulate phone mannerisms.

Qualifications: Graduate of accredited radiography program. Registered by ARRT in Radiography and Mammography. Minimum 5 years experience in mammography. Maintain CE requirements in field of mammography as well as Radiology. Skilled in motivating and communication with staff and others. Ability to organize and maintain supply inventory. Computer skills. Current BLS Certification required. Current NC drivers license.
