The West Michigan Neurodegenerative Diseases (MiND) Program at Van Andel Institute (VAI) is looking for a highly motivated and collaborative post-doctoral fellow to be a key part of the Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Platform. Under the mentorship of iPSC Platform Director, Dr. Laurent Roybon, this post-doctoral fellow will establish iPSC-derived models of neurodegenerative diseases, including Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, to understand the molecular underpinnings of neurodegeneration.

The postdoctoral fellow position will be for a 1-year appointment with a possibility of renewal on a yearly basis.
Necessary Qualifications:

* A recent Ph.D. graduate with demonstrated experience in any of the following fields: cell biology, biochemistry and/or neuroscience. At least one publication in these fields would be desirable.
* A preferred candidate will have experience working with iPSCs and in any of the following research areas: neuronal culture-based assays; confocal and/or high-throughput microscopy; viral vector technology; CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing, or molecular/cellular neurobiology.

Desired Skills - in addition to an intense curiosity of biology and neurodegenerative disease, you must possess the following:

* Experience with mice and rats

VAI is currently seeking to hire two full-time Events and Corporate Giving.

As a key member of Van Andel Institute's Philanthropy Team, the Events and Corporate Giving position will be responsible for assisting with developing, planning and coordinating community and corporate engagement, fundraising and donor stewardship programs consistent with the strategic focus and image of the Van Andel Institute. Assist with the organization and facilitation of local, regional and national fundraising events to ensure that activities run smoothly and follow appropriate protocol. Coordinate event mailings, donor and sponsor solicitation and stewardship, and project and financial tracking. This position will report to the Director of Events and Corporate Giving as well as partner with members of the entire Philanthropy Team.

Your Key Responsibilities in this role will include the following:

* Under the direction of the Director of Events and Corporate Giving, assist with creating, planning and organizing all fundraising events and corporate and community engagement activities.
* Work with the Database Administrator to ensure all event information and transactions are captured from event sponsors, donors and attendees through the donor database and third-party payment platforms.
* Establish policies, document, and maintain operational procedures for corporate and community engagement activities.
* Maintain an active awareness of philanthropy and donor relations goals and objectives and how they relate to corporate and community engagement activities.
* Perform all other duties as assigned.
* Assist with recruiting, directing and stewarding event volunteers.
* Attend all relevant committee meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes in a timely fashion.
* Act as a liaison between the VAI Facilities, Security, and IT Departments as well as vendors and the events team for relevant internal events
* Conduct post-event wrap-up and evaluation with vendors, in-kind donors and the VAI Finance Department to verify income statements for each event, including maintaining an annual event portfolio for historical purposes and record keeping.
* Coordinate event logistics and services, including production of all event mailings and collateral print materials.
* Maintain accurate records, including donor and sponsor information, expenses, revenue and guest names and information relating to fundraising and donor stewardship and engagement events.
* Assemble sponsorship proposals and cultivate new donor relationships; solicit for in-kind sponsorships
* Process event reservations, prepare master guest lists and supervise registration check-in for events.
* Update and manage relevant web pages with details, logistics and sponsorship information for local events.

Dr. Wei Lü and Dr. Juan Du are seeking to hire a full-time Research Technician to work on collaborative projects between their labs. These projects are focused on studying structure and mechanism of ion channels and transmembrane receptors that are linked to neurological diseases and cancers, using primarily single-particle cryo-EM.

In this role, you will be provided training to prepare you for the following responsibilities:

* maintain mammalian and insect cell lines
* molecular cloning
* small-scale protein expression screening using transient transfection and fluorescence-detection size-exclusion chromatography (FSEC)
* generate baculoviruses
* large-scale protein expression in mammalian or insect cells
* general lab maintenance

Research Technician - West Michigan Neurodegenerative Diseases (MiND) Program

The West Michigan Neurodegenerative Diseases (MiND) Program at Van Andel Institute (VAI) is seeking to hire a full-time Research Technician to be a key part of our Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Platform. This research technician will work directly with iPSC Platform Director, Dr. Laurent Roybon, to establish a well-defined pipeline for culturing, reprogramming, and differentiating patient-derived human iPSCs for VAI scientists studying neurodegenerative disease to use in their research. The iPSC platform will enable researchers at VAI to study living human brain cells to dissect key neurodegenerative disease phenotypes and mechanisms. This research technician will play an important role in establishing iPSC capabilities at VAI.

As a key member of Van Andel Institute's Philanthropy Team, the Database Administrator will manage all duties related to donor records and information stored within the Blackbaud Raiser's Edge and digital engagement platforms. This position will partner with the Philanthropy Team (Individual Giving and Events & Corporate Giving) to ensure that relevant information is captured and assist in building and managing an overall stewardship plan.

Your Key Responsibilities in this role will include the following:

* Under the direction of the Donor Relations Manager, manage the donor database ensuring accuracy and consistency as it relates to financial, biographical and philanthropic information while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
* Generate and organize queries, reports, and lists to analyze donor data.
* Create, maintain, and analyze philanthropy dashboard reports.
* Work with Events and Corporate Giving to ensure all event information and transactions are captured from event sponsors, donors and attendees through the donor database and third-party payment platforms.
* Collaborate with Finance to ensure that all transactions are captured in donor database and reconciled.
* Produce gift acknowledgement letters within 24-48 hours of receipt and update acknowledgment letters/processes as needed.
* Work with the Philanthropy Department to conduct donor prospect research and connect gift and donor information to relevant team members.
* Organize wealth screening on database every 3-5 years using wealth engine or other tools.
* Act as staff liaison for all database and digital engagement platforms with both company representatives and internal users.
* Implement routine performance analysis, troubleshooting of issues, proactive tuning, training and maintenance of the database and engagement systems.
* Analyze department needs and assist in eliminating redundancy and improve effectiveness of operations.
* Establish policies, document, and maintain operational procedures for database and digital engagement platforms.
* Serve as the point person for the email content management system including maintaining and updating records, importing email lists, and working with Communications team to send emails.
