Pay & Schedule
Touring Driver Pay:
* Starting pay on tour: $1,800/week, with potential to earn up to $2,500/week as you take on more responsibility
* Regional freight between tours: $1,475/week average (mileage-based)
Important: All drivers start in Averitt's regional division for the first 30 days (mileage-based pay). Touring assignments and salary-based pay begin after transfer approval.
Touring Driver Schedule:
* Tour Season: March-October
Tours run for weeks at a time; limited home time unless routes are near your domicile
* Off-Season: November-February
Drivers typically run regional, no-touch freight to maintain steady income
What You'll Do
Haul staging, lighting, and production gear for major live events
Assist with loading/unloading and secure equipment using straps and load bars
Safely back into tight or unconventional venue locations
Drive primarily at night to meet strict delivery windows

Performs daily inspection and routine fluid, air, and oil maintenance on truck and maintains clean vehicle. Constructs or assembles display aids from company provided Point of Sale (POS) materials.
Wears Company provided uniform and safety devices as appropriate to comply with safety and standards and procedures.

Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
Transports only authorized students.
Reports all accidents.
Participate in semi-annual safety and procedures training.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obey all traffic laws, rules and regulations for school buses (never goes faster than the law allows, never exceeds 50 MPH on activity trips).
Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses (children must always be seated when the bus is starting or stopping).
Maintains discipline when students are on the bus as well as when they are loading or unloading (reports undisciplined students to the principals immediately in writing).
Keep assigned route bus and/or spare bus clean
Keeps to assigned schedule and runs full routes each day schools are in session according to the adopted District school calendar
Checks bus daily before each operation for mechanical defects using checksheet.
Comes for regular servicing on assigned date at the scheduled time.
Immediately notifies the proper authority (Office of Transportation Supervisor ************* in case of Mechanical failure or lateness and exercise reasonable care in protecting vehicle
Discharges students at authorized stops. Does not stop at stores or other places off the route unless approved in advance by the Office of Transportation Supervisor
Exercises responsible leadership when on school activity trips
Transports only authorized students on the proper routes
Reports all accidents and completes all required accident reports immediately for the Transportation Supervisor
Enforces regulations against smoking (including chewing tobacco and snuff) and eating on the bus
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Mississippi Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements.
Valid Mississippi School Bus Driver Certificate. Must annually pass a regular school bus drivers training course approved by the MS State Board of Education. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be of good moral character, emotionally stable, cheerful, confident and considerate. Must attend and pass a basic First Aid course each year, as required. Such additional health and age requirements as the State and Superintendent may require.

High School Diploma or equivalent - preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
