JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation, operates a designated district vehicle to transport a maximum of nine student passengers; assists in the loading/ unloading of passengers, including students with special needs; assists in keeping assigned vehicle in a clean and orderly condition; does related work as required. In accordance with established routes, time schedules, and district policies and procedures; maintains assigned vehicles in a safe and clean condition.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Responsibility to:
* Drive a passenger vehicle for a designated route in accordance with time schedules; operate a two-way radio to maintain communication with the district office dispatcher.
* Pick up, discharge children, and provide personal mobility assistance, including the loading and unloading of students.
* Supervise students' conduct on passenger vehicles to assure a safe and positive learning environment; follow district policy regarding student behavior, report concerns and student disciplinary problems to the school office.
* Maintain a variety of records, including mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules.
* Drives a district car or vehicle to designated routes at scheduled times and/or for special events for students to and from a primary residence and/or to a designated location.
* Secures seat belts, car seats, securement devices, and windows to ensure the safety of student transportation
* Reports and completes required documentation for reporting all accidents, incidents, and follow-up and/or offer input on proper procedures
* Follow district policies by establishing and maintaining a daily record of assigned routes, vehicle operation maintains lists of student passengers, and tracking route times and miles

This mobile unit is an essential part of our family-focused, neighborhood-based wraparound service model, connecting clients to both agency and community resources directly within their neighborhoods.
The Mobile Medical Clinic Driver plays a critical role by safely operating the mobile medical vehicle and ensuring the clinic is ready for operation at scheduled sites. This position requires excellent driving skills, attention to safety, and a commitment to serving diverse populations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive and operate a 38-foot mobile medical unit to designated clinic locations throughout Santa Clara County.
Perform thorough pre- and post-trip inspections; ensure all vehicle systems are in safe working condition.
Coordinate with the Safety Coordinator to schedule and document regular vehicle maintenance and inspections.
Ensure the vehicle is fueled, clean, and stocked with necessary medical and administrative supplies.
Safely set up and dismantle clinic site equipment, including awnings, ramps, tables, and signage.
Maintain accurate driving logs, mileage records, and comply with all traffic laws and agency safety policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Valid Californiadriver's license and a clean driving record.
Ability to operate large vehicles safely and confidently.
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure or stressful situations.
Prior experience in non-profit or community-based settings is preferred.
Cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to sit and drive for extended periods; traveling within Santa Clara County.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform manual tasks, such as equipment setup.
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions and outdoor environments.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Criminal background check via livescan fingerprint.
Must have TB test performed and submit results.
Automobile, valid driver's license and auto insurance per agency policy; or have access to reliable transportation.
HOURS AND OTHER CONDITIONS:
Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This is a non-exempt, per diem (as needed) position. Schedule will vary; evening and weekend availability required.
Work is performed at various community locations, primarily outdoors.
