VHB is hiring a senior professional with experience in leading a team of environmental planning staff. The Environmental Planning Manager would provide leadership and mentorship to senior environmental planners in the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for State and Federal agencies, with a particular emphasis on the Georgia Department of Transportation. VHB's Atlanta-based environmental team includes 40 staff with a broad range of integrated experience, including environmental planning, ecological studies, cultural resource studies, air/noise studies, and others. We are looking for applicants that have a strong understanding of our full range of environmental services to foster our cross-collaborative culture and support our growing backlog.
Responsibilities:
Provide strong coaching, mentoring, and everyday feedback to senior planning staff
Provide quality assurance and quality control for NEPA documents produced by other staff
Track project deliverable progress in multiple systems and coordinate completion across teams
Support multi-disciplinary environmental projects in transportation, and manage multiple ongoing environmental planning tasks and projects
Build relationships with clients, project managers, colleagues, and sub‑consultants through project work and active industry engagement
Lead and support business development activities as needed, including preparing proposals/qualifications, project approaches, scopes of work, fee estimates, and schedules
Support senior management team with strategic insight, including Environmental Services Director and roadway design team
Independently prepare and review National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation
Facilitate stakeholder meetings, public workshops, and public hearings, as needed

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant environmental discipline (environmental science, environmental biology, ecology, wildlife management, cultural resources, NEPA, and related disciplines)
8+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including strong project management skills
Extensive experience with NEPA Regulations, state of Georgia rules and regulations (including GEPA and Buffer Variance Regulations), Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act
Extensive experience with client and business development activities, including client management, proposals/qualifications, fee estimates, and schedules
Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and managing senior-level staff
Writing samples required

**Job Description**
AECOM is seeking a Geologist II to be based in our Atlanta, Georgia office. This position will support our Remediation team within our Environment business line. This position is expected to begin immediately.
The Geologist II will serve as a team member in the field and the office, assisting project and program management with implementation of soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigative and remediation programs, data analysis, and report preparation.
This is a field-based role comprising approximately 75% fieldwork and 25% office-based work. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about environmental investigation and remediation and will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects.
This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.
Please take note this role will require travel outside of the Atlanta Metropolitan area (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the region and the United States.
The job responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

**Job Description**
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist for employment in the Atlanta, GA office. This position would support the Environmental business line, primarily working on Federal/CERCLA/FUDs projects including Superfund and DOD sites.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Conduct planning, implementation, and evaluation of data for CERCLA remediation investigations and remedial activities including RI, FS, ROD, PP and RDs.
+ Manage or participate in treatability studies and full scale implementation of in situ and ex situ remediation of environmental media.
+ Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
+ Prepares technical work plans and reports.
+ Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
+ Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems.
+ Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork.
+ Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations.
+ Conduct oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies.
+ Study contaminants and determine how to restore the environment.
+ Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines.
+ Coordination with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation.

**Qualifications**
**Minimum Requirements**
+ Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering or Environmental Science, + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
+ Valid U.S. Driver's License
+ Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ 4 years or more of relevant experience specifically with CERCLA RI/FS/RD processes on Superfund and DOD sites.

+ Experience conducting PFAS site assessments.
+ OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certification with annual refresher training.

+ Experience leading field sampling events for soil and groundwater site assessments.
+ Experience with developing conceptual site models, and preparing remediation strategies

+ 40 hour HAZWOPER training and/or annual 8 hour refresher class.
+ Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees.
+ Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Ability to learn through on-the-job experience.
+ Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination.

Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems on municipal water treatment plants, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power plants, and private industrial water applications in different locations across North America. Every project has its own unique challenges, and you are considered a resource for solutions to those challenges.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
- Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
- Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
- Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
- Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
- Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.
- Coordinate design with other design disciplines throughout the life of a project.
- Assist with mentoring engineers in training (EIT) to develop and strengthen their skills and technical abilities.
- Travel to job sites in your state of residence and other states (5%)
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
- Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.
- Ability to lead one or more projects simultaneously.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software - HAP or Trace.
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, chemical storage rooms, and hydroelectric power plants.
- Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems serving wastewater treatment plants.
- Strong client presentation skills.
