Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Hydrogeologist to support our expanding business in Florida and throughout the Gulf Region. The position will also provide hydrogeology support to the Water Resources Business Line. This position is based out of Stantec's West Palm Beach office. The Hydrogeologist will report to a Hydrogeologist Team Leader and will be responsible for designing, supporting, and executing hydrogeological investigations for dewatering, water supply, and aquifer recharge studies for water supply clients. This candidate also will be responsible for leading a large capacity production well design and construction projects. The successful candidate should have a background in drilling groundwater production wells, familiar with deep injection well construction, ability to oversee and support groundwater flow modeling, field investigations, conduct aquifer performance tests, project management, and technical report writing. This position interacts with both internal and external clients in field and office settings. The position requires travel to sites, primarily in the central Florida area. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for the position.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.
* Develop new well designs for groundwater monitoring and groundwater production.
* Design field investigations in support of hydrogeology studies including drilling, well construction, and testing oversight; groundwater sampling; and water level monitoring.
* Prepare technical reports documenting field investigations and analytical results.
* Prepare and deliver presentations of hydrogeologic investigations to internal and external clients.
* Ability to mentor junior staff and provide input to improve hydrogeologic interpretations or client deliverables.
* Assist project managers with developing project budgets, determining project scope, and establishing project schedules.
* Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations (record of publications, project reports, and/or public presentations will be requested).
* Ability to work independently and provide a supervisory role in the field at remote sites.
* Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
* Minimum of an B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Hydrogeology/Geology/Geochemistry or related field is required.

Responsibilities
Position requires experience in analysis and review of topographic lidar data, topobathymetric data, vector data (2D and 3D), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), Digital Surface Models (DSMs), imagery, and derivative products for state, federal, and private clients across the US. Experience with creating automated lidar classification algorithms (TerraSolid Products) preferred. Strong candidates will also have a good, conceptual understanding of fundamental remote sensing concepts and geospatial processes for various products, e.g. how lidar sensors work, basic GPS ground survey procedures, airborne lidar trajectory processing, interaction of light and water for bathymetry applications, and ortho-imagery processing.

Creating Scripts/Models/Macros in multiple sensor platforms
Work with the Product Line Lead to assist in the execution of projects, on time and within budget.
Data Management and Handling: Planning and monitoring production data, management needs and working with IT and Operations to ensure adequate resources are available; Ensuring data management protocols are met including the use of proper files and formats as well as file locations, storage, and backups.
Perform work that appropriately follows all quality control steps and practices are implemented throughout processes to ensure deliverables meet client specifications.
Provide feedback and support for developing and/or updating SOPs as necessary.
Works with production staff to support process improvements; working with other Technology/Process Improvement teams to review best practices to enhance product line, gain efficiencies, and improve quality.
Support improvements to automation of the production and QC process through providing technical guidance and ideas

Required Skills & Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
5+ years of experience in the GIS/Remote Sensing Field or equivalent combination of education and experience with a focus on point cloud classification working with Lidar and producing other Elevation data sources.
Experience in Lidar processing and elevation model creation/manipulation, hydrography, or other remote sensing processing, development, and QA/QC.
An understanding of GIS and Lidar data and concepts including a strong knowledge of various raster and vector data types, coordinate systems, projections, and datums
Understanding of Lidar production workflow and being able to explain the conceptual basis of Lidar acquisition, processing, and deliverable creation
The ability to analyze point clouds and various geospatial data layers derived from point cloud data.
Working experience with Terrasolid Products and MicroStation
In-depth knowledge of ESRI's products including ArcGIS 10x, ArcPro.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, and Access).
Ability to handle multiple priorities under tight schedules as required

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BA/BS in Engineering plus 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (current FL PE License), or able to register for the Principles & Practice (PE) Exam within 1 year.
Demonstrated experience working on building and facility design projects specifically in a fire protection and life safety specialty.
Experience preparing calculations and design documents (reports, plans, specifications)
Experience using AutoCAD and Revit.
Demonstrated experience with industry software utilized for fire protection and life safety calculations.
Demonstrated experience in roles/assignments leading projects, clients, and teams.
Demonstrated knowledge in building type categories, construction assemblies, and relevant codes and standards for fire protection and life safety.
Valid US Driver's License required, as a condition of employment must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records review.
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree in Engineering or Fire Protection is preferred
8 years of recent experience in Fire Protection engineering and building development projects covering the full aspects of building design - survey, design development, construction documents, construction administration, with direct experience in design and permitting of projects.

Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
8+ years of experience in the GIS/Remote Sensing Field.
Creative problem solving skills.
Experience in Lidar processing and elevation model creation/manipulation, hydrography, or other remote sensing processing, development, and QA/QC.
In-depth knowledge of ESRI's software, including ArcPro.
Experience with digital elevation data.
Proficiency in standard office computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, etc.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Beneficial Skills & Experience
Master's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
Engineering background and\or understanding of lidar sensor design, troubleshooting, or repairs.
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with remote sensing experience.
Specific experience working with Riegl topobathymetric sensors and Optech CZMIL topobathymetric sensors.
Experience creating scripts/models/macros in multiple GIS/remote sensing platforms.
Proficiency with other geospatial software suites such as Terrasolid Products, Global Mapper or LP360.
Experience with national elevation programs, such as NOAA's Coastal Mapping Program, USGS 3DEP, and/or USGS 3DHP.
Experience with industry standards and specifications, e.g., ASPRS Positional accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data, USGS Lidar Base Specifications.
Proximity to one of Dewberry's geospatial centers of expertise in Fairfax VA or Tampa FL.
Must have a valid driver's license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
