Responsibilities Develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale institutional, industrial, and mixed-use developments. Learn more about our Bridge and Structures Engineering practice and on-going work in Alternative Delivery at VHB: Bridges & Structures | VHB Alternative Delivery | VHB Responsibilities Perform structural modeling, design, and oversight for bridge and other transportation infrastructure projects Prepare construction documents, including plans, specifications, estimates and calculation packages Provide technical support/mentorship to structural engineering staff Perform quality assurance reviews of project construction documents, engineering reports, etc. Assist in preparation of qualification packages, proposals and/or contracts involving technical approach, costs, and scheduling Provide project management support Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews Skills & Abilities Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and quality Must possess strong technical skills in bridge/structural design and critical thinking Strong organizational and time management skills Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing is essential Experience with and motivation to lead and mentor junior staff Model-based design experience Project management skills Minimum Qualifications 3-5 years of structural bridge design experience (LRFD) B.S. in Civil Engineering required; emphasis in Structures preferred EIT certification required; PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred Project experience with FDOT preferred Experience completing engineering studies, design reports, compiling contract documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures including AASHTO, FDOT, local municipalities/counties, and other state DOTs Strong familiarity with any of the following structural engineering software (i.e. Mathcad, AASHTOWare, FB-MultiPier, Midas Civil, ATLAS, STAAD Pro, LARSA 4D, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, FDOT Structures Design Programs, etc.) Model-based design experience is a strong plus: Bentley OpenBridge and OpenRoads AutoCADD Civil 3D and Revit/Infraworks/Inventor We are VHB!
