The base salary range for this position is $185,000 - $270,00 for the Washington, DC location. The Urbanism + Planning group of AECOM is actively seeking a creative and enthusiastic Urban Planner III for employment in the Washington, DC office. The planner will serve on multi-disciplinary planning efforts in the DC region's most treasured places, from national parks to neighborhoods. Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
- Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
- Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
- Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
- Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
- Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
- Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Purpose
Responsible for environmental projects related to the land development industry including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species inventories, procuring appropriate permits, and coordination with regulatory agencies at the county, state and federal levels.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
* Receive broad guidance relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on highly complex assignments. Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
* Mentor and assist junior staff on assignments in the office and in the field.
At the Operational and Company Level
* Utilize and assist less experienced staff in understanding technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients.
* Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
* Engage in business development opportunities.
Do the Work
* Conduct complex field assessments, land use studies, and parkland impact assessments as prescribed by proposals and contracts (including scope, schedule, and budget).
* Conduct fieldwork independently or in a team environment in all types of weather conditions and throughout various terrains.
* Prepare and direct preparation of designs, specification, plans, estimates and reports for projects.
* Perform project development for complex projects, including finalizing scope of projects, preparing bid summaries, preparing project budgets and cost estimates.
* Maintain healthy client relationships and possess solid operational insight for driving projects and executing deliverables.
* Assist in all components related to planning and completing environmental projects.
* Work with clients, staff, agency personnel, and others to perform projects.
