Organization: MRI Imaging Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY Performs all aspects of Magnetic Resonance Imaging including but not limited to neuro, dynamic under the direct supervision of the Radiologist. He/She is required to provide high quality examinations in accordance with the protocols and policies of the Imaging Department while providing safe compassionate care to the patient. Shall be proficient in the operation of all equipment associated with the performance of scanning, including the MRI unit, its accessories, injectors, teleradiology, monitors and laser camera. Reports directly to the Director of Imaging. Is accountable for the professional and technical ability to perform high quality examinations with minimal supervision and within the protocols and guidelines set by the Department of Imaging Services. He/She has the responsibility of protection and safety to themselves, the patients and co-workers. He/She is expected to maintain high standards of technical competence and be an example and assist other technical personnel and student radiographers within the department. Technologists are required to participate in on-call coverage for the modality as part of the essentials of the job requirement. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Use MRI equipment to create cross-sectional image scans of patients to help doctors diagnose and treat illness or disease * Interact directly with patients and physicians * May administer intravenous injections of contrast dyes * Maintain safety measures that are specific to MRI * Communicate with the rest of the care team as needed * Ensuring that patients are comfortable and safe TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES * Anatomy & Physiology Knowledge (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate anatomy and physiology knowledge in practical applications of moderate difficulty. * Radiology (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate radiology services in practical applications of moderate difficulty. * Compliance (Novice): Can explain and apply basic statutory instructions in normal situations on the job. Ensures that the correct patient information, technical settings, and appropriate slice thickness are entered prior to scanning c. Completes processes to send image data to PACS • 2. Performs all tasks associated with the proper execution of a CT examination in accordance with the established department and hospital policies and procedures a. Accepts assignments from supervisor in positive manner; recognizes and performs duties that need to be accomplished although not routine b. Restock and maintains assigned work area/equipment in an orderly fashion and ensures that emergency kit is accurately supplied and dated c. Performs necessary cleaning of room and equipment d. Assists in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds and radiographic imaging tables e. Uses appropriate restraint devices as needed • 3. Performs all assigned RIS transactions to ensure that accurate patient and procedure information is recorded in a timely fashion for the patient medical record and billing purposes a. Completes patient exam in RIS b. Review's materials and exam charges, edits/corrects as necessary c. Review's patient exam information in WIZ, edits as necessary • 4. Performs visual maintenance checks on all equipment used and reports all malfunctions to appropriate personnel a. Perform quality assurance procedures b. Provides clear concise information regarding mechanical problems and service needs c. Records all equipment downtimes in department log and notifies appropriate personnel according to department procedures 5. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards a. Wears and maintains dosimeter badge in a proper fashion b. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance to radiation safety practices 6. Communicate with hospital staff and physicians in the performance of CT Scan procedures to exchange pertinent patient information a. Assists in scheduling of routine and emergency exams b.
