Vanderbilt University Medical Center Post-Graduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Informatics Residency program is a 12-month, full-time residency, accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The purpose of the PGY2 Pharmacy Residency program is to build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
The mission of the PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics residency is to transition PGY1 residency graduates from general practice to specialized informatics practice that meets the needs for informatics services and ultimately our patients and providers. This residency will tentatively begin on July 1, 2026, with one residency position available. PGY2 specialty residencies require the successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 residency year and pharmacy licensure in the state of Tennessee. VUMC pharmacy residency positions in postgraduate year one (PGY1) or postgraduate year two (PGY2) are offered to applicants through the ASHP Resident Matching Program (the "Match"). The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) is responsible for establishing the Rules of the Match, and for monitoring the implementation of the Match.
