**Key Responsibilities**
+ Maintain a clean, orderly work area while handling various types of equipment, instruments, and supplies used during surgical procedures.
+ Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instrumentation, equipment and supplies for the OR and other areas as needed.
+ Keep accurate quality control records regarding Bowie-Dick Tests, Biologics and individual load records.
+ Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies for the SterileProcessing department and order as needed.
+ Transport sterile supplies and equipment to other areas of the hospital.
+ Maintain and care for equipment and supplies. Document maintenance and repairs.
+ Maintain department records, reports and files as required.
+ Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
+ Consistently provide accurate and complete hand-off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy.
+ Attend 80% of all department meetings and required to review and initial all department minutes missed.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Methodist Hospital is looking to hire a SterileProcessing Tech (SPD) to join our sterileprocessing team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.
Position Summary:
The SterileProcessingTechnician is responsible and accountable for all functions of the sterileprocessing department, under the guidance of the sterileprocessing department supervisors and manager.
This position is responsible for working independently and with team members to ensure that all surgical instrumentation are properly decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, high level disinfected, marked for repair and placed in a proper repair location, and communicate incomplete trays and missing items to management and OR immediately. All instruments must be distributed, tracked and stored in a safe, secure, aseptic and timely manner throughout the hospital and clinics. Immediate-use steam sterilization, tray turnovers between surgical cases and releasing sterilized loads from the department must be performed observing standard practice. Each team member will be qualified to train others as assigned and serve as a front-line resource to sterileprocessing customers.
The SterileProcess Tech is part of the SEIU-113 Union - SEIU will offer competitive wages for any prior experience in SterileProcessing or related fields. Please list any prior experience on your resume.

1.0 FTE / Evening Shift (3pm-11pm) M-F
Rotating when needed, Rotating Weekends, On-Call Available
Required Qualifications:
Central Service/SterileProcessing/or Surgical Technology program certification with hands-on clinical experience
or
1 year of central service/sterileprocessing/surgical technology experience.
Word Processing knowledge, typing, data entry, strong communication skills - verbal and written.
The candidate will present current certification from either CBSPD: C.S.P.D.T. or HSPA (formerly known as IAHCSMM): C.R.C.S.T. or must attain one of these certifications within 18 months of hire.
The 18 month deadline will be the set on the same numbered day of the month as the hire date. For hire dates falling on the 31st, the deadline defaults to the last day of the 18th month.
This certification must be maintained for the duration of employment.

The SterileProcessingTechnician is responsible for all task-based Central Services activities. SterileProcessing activities include, but are not limited to: decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation, assembly and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and receiving and distribution of SterileProcessing supplies. The SterileProcessingTechnician must be able to decontaminate and assemble surgical instrumentation using an automated Instrument Tracking System. Uses an electronic handheld ordering device and works with the Materials Coordinator to par, order, and replenish soft supplies in the surgical core, and CS packs storage area. Assembles the surgical case cart from a predetermined preference list; the case cart includes surgical instrumentation; peel packs, soft supplies, packs, and implants. The SterileProcessingTechnician is accountable for all activities to which s/he is assigned during their shift, to include: quality and accuracy of instrument decontamination, assembly, sterilization, case cart assembly, and supply par and replenishment. Selects appropriate method of sterilization, verify parameters, and documents sterility accurately and appropriately. Complies with all department specific policies and procedures. Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems to the Operations Supervisor or Manager. Works with and under the guidance of the Lead Central Services Technician, Central Services Coordinator, and Materials Coordinator to prioritize tasks in order to support clinical operations effectively and efficiently.
May be asked to perform as Lead Technician; this includes the assignment, training, and allocation of staffing resources to meet the needs of clinical operations. Must be able to demonstrate performance of the activities and tasks of the Central Services Technician proficiently and comfortably. Expected to fulfill varying weekend coverage. Expected to provide support and coverage across all Swedish campuses as needed. May occasionally work overtime.

Working Environment/ Physical Activities
Physical working environment may include, but not limited to, any of the following hazards: high pressure steam, chemical, electrical, mechanical, biohazardous waste, stress, back strain, body fluids.
Environmental conditions may include, but not limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc.
Physical requirements include consistent standing, walking, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and or twisting. Assist with moving or positioning patients, restock supplies, daily terminal cleaning of clinical areas and equipment.
The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 50 lbs.
Functional physical demands include manual dexterity and fine motor skills and reaching. Tactile differentiation of temperature and moisture. Full range of motion.
Have no physical limitations as to lifting trays of instruments (above the head), pushing, pulling carts from sterilizer, walking, and standing for duration of shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operates all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely, prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments and supplies according to parameters of sterilization in accordance with The Dept. of Health, ISO, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. Maintains appropriate records and monitors quality control and infection control standards. Provides asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to the facility.
Monitor, interpret, and document results of physical, chemical and biological indicators for all types of sterilizers used in the sterileprocessing areas.
Accurately cares for instruments appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification and assembly for sterilization. Retrieves malfunctioning instruments and notifies supervisor to ensure repairs are completed or instruments are replaced.
Correctly peel-packs supplies/instruments, inspects instruments for use, function, completeness and cleanliness prior to wrapping instruments for sterilization.
Coordinates with Materials/Central Supply Dept. to ensure facility sets are stocked to PAR levels. Inventory, receive and restock supplies as needed.
Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to facility policy and procedures and quality of service.
Follow facility policy for mandatory continuing education and skills competency. Communicates with the operating staff to provide required instruments. Resources surgical techs and nurses for proper sterilization techniques
Maintains records for QA, sterilization, temperature and humidity control within storage areas.
Is familiar with the organization, dept. and job specific Environment of Care areas, including Hazardous Materials Communication, Emergency Preparedness, Infection Control, PPE, Handling and disposal of infectious waste appropriately, proper handwashing technique, Surgical scrub attire.
Other Duties/Responsibilities
Adjust or flex hours according to hospital staffing policy.
Maintains a professional appearance and follow surgery dress code. Wears ID badge while on duty.
Comply with Hospital Policy for attendance, PTO days, sick days, HIPPA, etc. (see Employee handbook).

SterileProcessingTechnician
: The provider practice sterileprocessingtechnician acts as the primary clinic staff responsible for all sterilization activities performed in the clinic processing room. Clinical Medical Assistant
: Performs designated tasks for patients in all age groups in clinic setting. May perform basic monitoring to include temperature, pulse, respiration, B/P. Assists with patient care duties his/her scope of practice, and as skill competency is verified. Performs clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Communicates, assists, and supports the clinical team lead, and other clinical staff, in support for the efficient delivery of patient care. Assist clinical team lead in receiving and distributing supplies and equipment upon arrival.
All tasks will be performed according to hospital/clinic policies and procedures as well as legal compliance policies and other regulatory requirements. Must have good communication skills and support teamwork in the delivery of care as well as demonstrate customer service relations with the Ohio County Healthcare's mission, vision, and values.
Working Environment:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The SterileProcessingTechnician must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess at least one year experience in the OR or Central Sterilization. The SterileTechnician must have a basic understanding of aseptic technique, knowledge of sterilization principles, processing techniques and instrument/equipment care. The Tech must be certified in sterileprocessing by an accredited organization required by eighteen (18) months. The SterileTechnician must be able to adapt to a repetitive, short cycle operation, have some ability to operate large equipment, to disassemble and assemble instruments and possess some familiarity with surgical instrumentation.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; light lifting, pulling or pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, push and/or pull equipment up to 100 pounds.
