It serves various U.S. public health care and other civilian government agencies, as well as selected U.S. defense and intelligence agencies, foreign governments, and private sector entities. The company was formerly known as Pearson Government Solutions, Inc. and changed its name to Vangent, Inc. in February 2007. Vangent, Inc. was founded in 1953 and is based in Arlington, Virginia. As of September 30, 2011, Vangent, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc.
