He joined the group in 2009 as their Group CFO and became Group CEO in January 2015. Over his 10 years, he played a key leadership role in driving and implementing consolidation and growth strategies - decisively positioning the company for its next generation of global expansion. His deep understanding and experience of the company’s business, culture, people, partners and industry enabled him to create both a commercial and cultural difference within the group. During his tenure as Group CFO he also led Strategy and Transformation.Prior to Emery, Ramesh was an Investment Banker with a boutique Sydney based corporate finance and advisory firm. He focused on deals in the mining, medical and renewable energy space. He was involved with both strategy development as well as structuring and executing transactions including capital raisings. During this time he also represented investors by acting as Chairman for a publicly listed mining services company and sitting on the boards of various others.Ramesh build most of his career with the Royal Dutch Shell Group. He held key senior positions in Australia, PR China, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic and Malaysia. Amongst his achievements were leading a global Mergers & Acquisitions team for the Liquified Petroleum Gas business out of London, turning around businesses in crisis in both China and Latin America and establishing and growing a finance and management consultancy business for Shell group companies in Asia Pacific. In January 2016, Ramesh was elected President of United Nations Global Compact for Malaysia, a pro-bono role he held concurrently with his responsibilities at Emery Oleochemicals. He charted and implemented initiatives relating to issues of Sustainability at a national strategy and policy level, working and building key external relationships.
