Opening of the Hospital - April 11, 1887

Vassar Brothers Medical Center (VBMC) is a 365-bed facility that has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887.

1890

A training school for nurses was established in 1890, and a stone wall was erected around the perimeter of the 17 acres.

Two nurses receive certificates of nursing - 1890

1924

First major building addition -- Corridors 1-4 for patient care, surgery, x-ray, laboratory and medical records, 1924
