Drives an emergency medical vehicle to the scene of reported emergencies, non-emergencies and interfacility patient transports. Has primary responsibility regarding safe operations including driving of large emergency vehicles. Under the guidance of the clinican, provides efficient and immediate patient care support , such as loading, moving, and transporting patients and handling equipment while the vehicle is not in motion. Performs non-invasive procedures and basic life support functions such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED).
* High School Diploma/GED required.
* Requires a valid Indiana Operator's license and good driving history.
* Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or attainment upon hire.
* Requires understanding of the traffic laws of the State of Indiana.
* Requires training in all assigned competencies such as but not limited.
* Prior emergency vehicle driving experience preferred.
* Prior emergency vehicle training preferred (Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS), Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), Volunteer Firemen's Insurance Services (VFIS), etc.)
* First Responder Certification preferred.

Paratransit vehicle operator job description
VEHICLE OPERATOR-NO WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS, GUARANTEED 40 HOURS PER WEEK
Paratransit, Inc. is now accepting applications for Vehicle Operators to operate Paratransit vehicles safely and efficiently in the door-to-door transport of passengers to scheduled sites; to assist passengers on and off assigned vehicle; to assure the safety of passengers while riding in assigned vehicles; and to maintain accurate records and logs of trip information as required. The schedules for this position vary between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with weekends and most holidays off. This recruitment will remain open until all positions are filled.
The minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Valid California Driver License
- Clean driving record
- At least 21 years of age for insurability
- Excellent communication skills

- Reliable and Responsible
- Team player
- COVID-19 vaccination and booster required. Must be fully vaccinated prior to first day of work. Must have booster if eligible.

The license application process must be started no later than the second week of employment and requires a DMV fee of up to $83.00. This fee is the responsibility of the Vehicle Operator. Paratransit, Inc. will provide training to obtain your Commercial Driver License.

A $400.00 sign on bonus (to be paid in increments after 30, 90 and 180 days of employment).
Vehicle Operators are eligible for Free Kaiser Medical and Free MetLife Dental Benefits on the first day of the next complete calendar month after being employed sixty days. After successful completion of five months’ probation, Vehicle Operators receive ten paid designated holidays per year and begin accruing 4 floating holidays, 12 paid vacation and 12 paid sick leave days per year. Paratransit, Inc. provides uniform shirts at no cost to the employee. Guaranteed 40 hours per week! No working Holidays, Nights or Weekends!
Vehicle Operators are required to join the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU).
