VEKA Inc - North America history

Heinrich Laumann, an original employee, purchased the company and began designing window systems, the first of which were unveiled in 1971.

In 1974, VEKAPLAST acquires a 115,000 m² industrial plot in Sendenhorst on which to build a new extrusion plant.

Finally, in 1981, Europe's most modern mixing plant for PVC compounds went into operation.

In 1983, VEKA established manufacturing operations in the United States and is now one of North America's most respected suppliers of vinyl window and door profiles.

In 1986, VEKA constructed the industry's first highly-automated, computer-controlled compounding and extrusion complex, dedicated solely to the window and door market in Fombell, PA, located 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.

In 1987, VEKA in France opened a new plant in Thonon-les-Bains, where the subsidiary is still located today.

The company becomes a limited company with share capital, VEKA GmbH. In 1992, VEKA takes on the legal form of a public limited company, providing the structural prerequisites for further growth on the international markets.

The second phase of internationalization: In 1994, the subsidiary VEKA Polska was founded in Poland.

In 1995, the company built VEKA West, Incorporated, a revolutionary new, highly-automated facility near Reno, Nevada, serving Canada, Mexico and the Western United States

The Moscow-based subsidiary "VEKA Rus" is founded in 1998, starting production on its three extrusion lines the following year.

In early 2000, VEKA capitalized on the growth of vinyl profiles in the fence and rail market.

In 2006, VEKA South was established in Terrell, Texas to provide the southern United States and Mexico with quality VEKA extrusions.

In order to serve the Indian growth market faster and more flexibly, the company opens new sales offices and warehouses in 2008.

Despite a decade of tough housing markets in the US, VEKA globally broke one billion in sales for 2010.

With selective acquisitions as well as the takeover of GEALAN (in 2014) and the diversification into digital business areas, the VEKA Group started establishing itself as a global market leader.

2018 was the year that VEKA added their fourth extrusion facility, in Morganton, North Carolina.
