Peraton is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to support the NOAA AWIPS program - the system used daily by National Weather Service forecasters to process weather data, track storms, and protect lives through timely warnings. AWIPS powers operations across 150+ forecast offices, making quality and system reliability absolutely essential.
In this role, you will ensure software and system updates meet the high standards required for 24/7 national weather operations.
What You'll Do:
Verify compliance with engineering, testing, and configuration standards
Participating in design and test reviews
Maintain quality metrics and documentation
Implements and perform process/product evaluations (audits) to ensure compliance with project established policies, processes, procedures and applicable standards.
Performs a variety of technical and administrative activities related to the function of QA (auditing), including, but not limited to, scheduling, checklist development, report writing, facilitating root cause/lessons learned analysis, and internal/external presentations.
Analyzes, compiles, and reports on findings of non-compliance and provides recommendations for improvement.
Tracks and escalates unresolved non-compliance issues and corrective and preventative action plans to closure.
Provides employee training for project management best practices.
Interfaces with internal customers to ensure project quality work products have been provided.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
Prior experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required
Ability to serve as a team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any project.

This role offers the opportunity to lead technical efforts that contribute to the broader Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) initiative, enabling U.S. forces and allies to act faster and more effectively in complex operational environments.
At the core of this mission is our Systems Engineering team, which plays a pivotal role at the intersection of requirements definition, architecture and system design, integration, and validation across the ABMS DI-Network. This team ensures a cohesive system architecture that enables seamless integration of new capabilities into the network.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a technical lead and advisor to government stakeholders, providing guidance on defining the technical scope for major and minor releases of the network. Focus on advancing the technical maturity of the DI-Network by ensuring alignment with program objectives, delivering capabilities that meet operational requirements, and documenting risks and opportunities along the way.
Support a System of Systems digital engineering approach through all phases of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including requirement generation and decomposition, system architecture and design documentation, and oversight of system integration, test, and validation activities to ensure alignment with mission objectives.
Document the design, development, and integration of the DI-Network and its features within a Model Based Systems Engineering approach leveraging a SysML model within Cameo. Maintain robust configuration management of the system baseline.
Facilitate technical and programmatic information exchange with multiple government and contractor organizations through participation in Working Groups and IPTs, informal and formal technical interchanges, and formal reviews.
Basic Qualifications
Must possess a minimum of a Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline and 8 years of systems engineering experience, ideally supporting enterprise-scale network infrastructure. Or Master's degree with 6 years of systems engineering experience.
Hands-on experience with system modeling and requirements management, experience with Cameo is preferred.
Knowledge of networking engineering, network architecture, and network automation methodologies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex DoD systems.
Demonstrated experience with Agile program execution and using agile tools (e.g. Jira and Confluence).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working on ABMS or JADC2 initiatives, or other US Air Force Customer programs.

The Non-Kinetic Effects Business Area, part of the Defense Sector at Leidos, currently has an opening for a cleared Software Engineer to work in our Beavercreek, OH Office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Air Force Research Lab, Air Force Lifecycle Management Center, and other DoD missions. Your role will be to support our diverse portfolio of programs through a combination of software design and development, hardware interfacing and integration, laboratory experimentation, ground and flight testing to deploy cutting edge, next generation solutions.
Primary Responsibilities.
Design, develop and maintain mission-critical software in support of national defense, and intelligence gathering products for both airborne and ground-based systems
Responsible for performing the software engineering function, including the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new software-intensive systems and products. Applies appropriate principles, standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
Duties include software requirements analysis, analysis of hardware compatibility, development of software products and tools used for design, development and maintenance of infrastructure, and platforms.
Develops technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, with a thorough understanding of the impact on end-product/solution.
Develop solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require technical knowledge.
Participate in laboratory, ground and flight testing to validate software
Document and communicate proposed software solutions with integrated, cross-functional engineering teams in a fast paced highly technical environment
Works independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on operational results or project deliverables.
Addresses somewhat complex technical issues/problems using internal best practice and through collaboration with colleagues.
Develops solutions to technical problems that require depth of technical knowledge, but are typically limited in complexity
Requires working knowledge of and ability to apply standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques of technical domain.
Stay up to date on state-of-the-art programming techniques and software technologies
Participate in software design and code reviews to ensure delivery of quality products and enhance skillsets
Basic Qualifications.
BS degree and 2 - 4 years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience in software engineering, computer engineering or related field.
Experience programming in one or more of the following languages: C++, Java, Python
Experienced in systems integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex system problems
Experience working in a SIL environment
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally from informal one-on-one discussions or in a small group environment.
Work well within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work within a dynamic work environment, ability to handle multiple tasks at once (multi-task)
Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas.
