Ventura Coastal history

In 1841 the Rancho San Miguel was deeded to Raimundo Olivas, who built the most magnificent hacienda south of Monterey on the banks of the Santa Clara River.

The Union Oil Company was organized with Bard as President in 1890, and has offices in Santa Paula.

Elizabeth Bard Memorial Hospital, also known as Bard Hospital, is a building in Ventura, California which was built in 1902.

Thus Ventura was isolated in that direction also, until a narrow road, the Maricopa Highway, was built in the 1920’s.

In 1928 the former First Baptist Church commissioned noted architect Robert Stacey-Judd known for his Neo-Mayan architecture style.

From our founding in 1940, Ventura Coastal expanded from a packer of locally grown fruit into one of the largest wholesale processors of citrus juice in the western United States.

In 1973, a national soft drink firm acquired Ventura Coastal, further broadening our corporate horizon and global reach.

Of California's 15 largest fires, 12 have occurred since 2000.

In 2005, three members of the management team purchased Ventura Coastal.
