**Job Description**
**Position Purpose:**
The Operator I operates and maintains sludge, dewatering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in refinery/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.
**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
+ Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.

**Qualifications**

**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Provide comprehensive management of the facilities water supply, treatment, usage, and disposal

+ Ensure that all equipment and instrumentation used in the treatment, usage, and disposal process meet regulatory and site specifications
+ Ability to work independently, efficiently and make necessary decisions in regards to treatment requirements and quality standards
+ Maintain detailed electronic log, documented rounds, electronic spreadsheets, and produce daily reports each shift
+ Make routine rounds throughout shift in all treatment areas
+ Performs daily RCRA and Safety Inspections as required
+ Monitor all indicators, trends, and alarms on the Programmable Logic Controller(PLC) and local system setups throughout shift and make adjustments accordingly. Respond to notifications in a timely and efficient manner
+ Report any exceedances or permit violations to supervision, management, and EH&S immediately and document the occurrence on the designated forms and logs
+ Order daily consumable products from vendors for items such as: Acid, chlorine, chemical additives, potable water loads, and lab testing equipment and chemicals
+ Maintain and enforce compliance on a high level of housekeeping and environmental standards throughout all treatment areas
+ Respond to upset and abnormal conditions in a safe and timely manner while following all established protocols and Standard Division Practices(SDP)
+ Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, test, and monitor all equipment within the water treatment areas
+ Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, test, and monitor the facility's supply of fire suppression water and its system components
+ Report any spills or emergency situations to supervision and site Emergency Coordinators immediately and assist with remediation efforts and situational response
+ Report malfunctions and inoperable equipment to the maintenance department for repairs using the site Work Request System
+ Perform basic maintenance to area equipment such as filter swapping, tote changing, gasket & gauge replacements, tubing replacement, and parts greasing
+ Safely shut down and start up the treatment units and areas during scheduled outages as well as upset conditions
+ Perform Lock Out Tag Out(LOTO) on all systems and streams within the treatment areas
+ Work with contractors and maintenance department on preventative maintenance and repairs
+ Issue work permits for all treatment areas.These permits may include:
+ Safe Work, HotWork, Line Break, and Confined Space Entry Permits
+ Participate in continuous ongoing retraining, refresher, and state certification programs
+ Train, or assist in the training, development, and sign-off of treatment area operators
+ Provide operational expertise on unit and assist with audits and providing information for external entities and regulatory agencies
+ Provide technical guidance and work with site Engineers to design, test, and implement unit upgrades and improvements
+ Offload and unload tanker trucks as needed for storage or injection
+ Performs basic lab procedures and is proficient in the usage of basic lab equipment for testing and verification purposes. Some of the equipment and tests include:
+ pH, turbidity, conductivity, specific gravity, ISBSP, & hardness
+ titraters, mixers, probes, meters, and analyzers
+ Performs daily calibration of equipment.
+ Assist with maintaining access to the Port Arthur facility and its subsidiary properties North and South of the facility.
+ Maintain and operate a number of unique pieces of equipment and systems such as:
+ Ultrafiltration(UF) System, Reverse Osmosis(RO) System, Boilers, Marley Cooling Tower, Clarifiers, Sand Filters, Metering Pumps, Blowers, Tractor & Diesel Pumps

+ Maintain deep well injection pressures, rates, and pH staying within permit parameters

+ Extract representative waste samples from scrubber blow-down, injection tank, and batch tanks, completes appropriate labeling, and maintains record keeping on sampling according to established standards
+ Operate a variety of rolling stock such as:

**Qualifications**

What you'll do
Operate and maintain water and/or wastewatertreatment equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental protection limits. and adherence to Company policies and standards.
Conduct ongoing repairs to equipment or shut down equipment for more extensive maintenance and repair, activating alternate equipment as needed. Requests services of outside maintenance vendor for major repairs and overhauls.
Assist Lead Operator with emergency procedures in the event of overflow or spill of chemicals or unpurified water. Follows safety protocol.

Operator I (C License):
* Performs daily water plant checks by checking all equipment; monitoring hour meters and flow meters; checking chemical residuals; changing chemical analyzers; maintaining chemical inventory; transferring and inspecting chemicals; calibrating test kits; and adjusting feed rates.
* Maintains the plant by completing maintenance work orders; greasing plant equipment; managing rust/corrosion control; and performing housekeeping practices and general cleaning.
* Manages plant repairs by scheduling work orders for internal repair; ensuring all plant equipment in repaired; and assisting mechanics and electricians when necessary.
Operator II (B License):
* Performs preventive maintenance by shutting off power; locking out equipment; greasing moving equipment; changing oils in gear boxes; guaranteeing all maintenance activities are safe; and painting equipment.
* Controls processes by checking process basins; using odor sensory perception and results from laboratory tests; reviewing the performance of the process; and overseeing the SCADA system.
* Performs housekeeping duties by cleaning for spider webs; removing all dirt and debris; maintaining materials and equipment; and ensuring the facility is aesthetically pleasing.
* Gives plant tours by evaluating the process and equipment in the treatment process; obtaining daily readings from meters and gauges; maintaining records; and ensuring all equipment functions properly.

The Day-to-Day:
TreatmentOperations: Perform day-to-day water treatment plant operations, including equipment checks, basic troubleshooting, and operation of pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, and storage tanks using SCADA systems, while monitoring and adjusting treatment parameters to meet regulatory requirements.
System Support: Serve as a flex operator supporting operators and supervisors across all treatment facilities to maintain operational coverage, support project and maintenance work, and participate in the rotating 24/7 on-call operator schedule.
Maintenance & Asset Management Support: Perform general mechanical maintenance and assist with troubleshooting treatment equipment, support membrane treatment plant operations and maintenance activities, and assist with the development and update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Water Quality: Collect regulatory and process control water quality samples, perform field and basic laboratory testing, support water quality sampling and optimization programs, as well as maintain and calibrate testing equipment and online instrumentation.

Overview
The Texas Water Utilities team has an opportunity for a Water-WastewaterOperator II. This role is under general supervision, performs routine tasks related to the operation of water and/or wastewatertreatment facilities. Maintains plant compliance with EPA standards and state water Commission. Performs general cleaning of grounds and buildings. Ensures plant safety and sanitary requirements.
Work Location and Schedule
This position will travel between service areas near Sanford, NC. Schedule is Monday through Friday. After-hour and weekend on-call support may be required
What You'll Do
Essential Functions
Operates and maintains water and/or wastewatertreatment equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal environmental protection limits.
Monitors and samples well and groundwater upon entry to the system. Adjusts treatment levels when below-standard variances are detected. Samples water prior to exiting system.
Detects and reports atypical conditions, such as: damaged, malfunctioning and tampered meters, detecting and reporting leaks, high/low consumption, exposed wiring and other safety hazards.
Conducts ongoing repairs to equipment, or shuts down equipment for more extensive maintenance and repair, activating alternate equipment as needed. Requests services of outside maintenance vendor for major repairs and overhauls.
Activates pumps, valves and other processing equipment to move water through various treatment processes. Disposes of waste materials removed from water in line with Company procedures and government controls.
Assists Lead Operator with emergency procedures in the event of overflow or spill of chemicals or unpurified water. Follows safety protocol.
Adds chemicals to water by predetermined formula. Advises Lead Operator when minimum inventory levels of these materials have been reached.
Reads and interprets meters and gauges on central control panel, or at individual machines or stages in the treatment process. Adjusts controls as needed. Retrieves computer reports on treatment process.
Prepares reports and maintains logs on meter readings, tests, chemical and equipment usage, and all other recordkeeping requirements; maintains various Company records and other reports as required by the state.
Back-washes filters and basins; handles chlorine in a safe, effective manner; assures proper working order of chlorine-related equipment.
Cleans and maintains treatment plant, pumping stations and wells; prepares and paints equipment, walls and floors.
Ensures regulatory compliance and adherence to Company policies and standards.
Maintains a safe working environment and reports safety concerns to Area Manager.
Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time.
Must work On-Call in rotation as scheduled; responds to emergency situations as required.
Completes facility and vehicle inspections, along with related follow-up.
Installs and reads water meters.
Acts as liaison between customers and customer service; provides on-site customer communication.
Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless utility service.
Ensures that facilities and grounds are kept clean and orderly and comply with Company standards.
What You'll Bring
Experience
3 - 5 years mechanical experience, including at least 3 years specializing in chemical treatment of water and/or wastewater and/or a minimum of 3 years in water and/or wastewater utility field with experience in the operation and maintenance of ground-water supplied water systems and associated distribution system.
Education and Certification
High school Diploma
Currently holds second-level operator license per state regulation, may be in the process of obtaining third-level license; must maintain a valid driver's license.

Purpose of Role
The Water Treatment Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the Miura branch offices, factory, and Miura representatives regarding maintenance, production, and sales inquiries, while advancing Miura's water treatment capability inside and outside of the boiler room.

1) Advance MIURA's Ability to Perform Water Treatment for an Entire Facility - Inside & Outside of the Boiler Room
a. System Development & Integration:
Develop, design, and implement water treatment programs for full-facility coverage, including but not limited to cooling towers, closed-loop systems, and wastewater.
Evaluate existing MIURA technologies and identify opportunities for adaptation or expansion.
Develop modular and scalable treatment solutions tailored to diverse facility types.
b. Innovation & Research:

2) Water Treatment Department Skill Development

3) Provide Complete Water Treatment Support & Follow-Through (Case Management)
a . Assist sales and maintenance/service personnel from Miura and our Representative Network by answering water treatment, water quality, and associated water equipment questions, coordinating with internal departments (Maintenance, Engineering, Maintenance Support, Production Support, etc.) to provide guidance with troubleshooting Miura water quality products and services within the department's guidelines for timeliness and efficiency in the Case Management System.
Responsible for supporting the maintenance and sales staff in relation to the subject of water treatment. This involves becoming a technical expert in multiple product lines (chemical, water treatment equipment, federal/state/local codes, and regulations, etc.).
b. Water Lab Support
Be familiar with water analysis laboratories and the water analysis procedures to support the water analysis labs.
c. Create and update supporting technical documentation (manuals, FAQ/quick guides, knowledge base, tools, & calculators, etc.) to assist MAC and Rep maintenance and sales personnel with documents pertaining to content such as PV replacements, retrofits, parts identification, digital services, etc., as identified through a regular case management review and interaction with MAC's Maintenance team.
Create and revise documents in support of Sales, Maintenance, and Production Departments in relation to water treatment topics and products.
If applicable, translate documents from Japanese to English and/or English to Spanish.

Purpose of Role
The Water Treatment Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the Miura branch offices, factory, and Miura representatives regarding maintenance, production, and sales inquiries, while advancing Miura's water treatment capability inside and outside of the boiler room.
