1860

Groupe Montenay, founded in 1860, merges with Compagnie Générale de Chauffe.

1913

In 1913 it changed its name to United Water Softeners Ltd.

1937

United Water Softeners Ltd changed its name to The Permutit Company Ltd, in 1937.

1948

Later in 1948 the ELGA moves to a factory in Railway Place, Wimbledon still selling domestic appliances.

1955

In 1955 ELGA makes history, launching the world’s first deioniser incorporating exchangeable cartridges.

1959

In 1959 ELGA move to a new factory in Lane End, Buckinghamshire.

1961

A new resin regeneration station is installed at the Lane End site in 1961 and nicknamed 'Saturn I' after the rocket launched in to space in October of that year.

1976

1976 First full-scale Biothane® UASB

1985

1985 First Biobed® EGSB planT

1986

The first waste drop-off centers open in 1986.

1989

The Onyx brand is created in 1989.

1991

1991 First BIOTHANE Biobulk™ plant

1996

In 1996, USP (train stations and trains), Comatec (urban transportation) and Rénosol consolidate to form the Cleaning division at Onyx.

2000

From the early nineties till late 2000's Biothane further developed the anaerobic technologies and global network as a technology contractor.

2005

2005 First Biobed® Advanced plant

2008

In 2008 Biothane was acquired by their partner Veolia.

2011

2011 First Memthane® plant

2012

2012 First Sulfothane™ plant

2017

2017 First MemGas™ plant

2022
