The Hybrid Water Treatment Technical ApplicationEngineer will lead and manage multiple projects throughout the sales cycle, providing technical support to the regional sales team from lead qualification to contract signature and handoff to Project Management execution. This role involves developing project solutions, coordinating bid and proposal documents, assisting with product development and marketing and assisting commercial strategy development for specific products. This position is suited for individuals with some experience who are looking to deepen their expertise and take on more responsibility.
Job Description:
* Coordinate tasks delegation and completion, among various internal departments and sales departments in response to customer requests. Complete tasks autonomously as needed.
* Help develop project solutions and winning strategies for ongoing projects.
* Lead bid preparation and help develop and manage proposal documentation
* Prioritize tasks, personally and within internal departments, relating to project needs and required response times.
* Complete preliminary process designs, using tools and models provided by BU, and generate P&IDs with minimal oversight
* Calculate project pricing, including working with vendors to ensure equipment meets project guidelines
* Review technical specifications and provide necessary clarifications and exceptions
* Coordinate cross-functional collaboration for technical and commercial risk mitigation
* Assist in preparing and leading in Bid Tender Risk Review Meetings
* Helps review of purchase orders and other legal documents to identify commercial and legal issues.
* Develop and maintain standard sales tools, such as specification documents and pricing sheets
* Provide technical training and support to junior engineers
Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree (preferably Engineering or other technical fields)
* 3-5 years of experience in a related field
* Strong technical competence and project management skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Fluency in English (written and verbal)

Position Scope
This is an in-office position that works out of the Gurnee, IL manufacturing site that reports directly to our Engineering Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position is very much one of being a working supervisor. While supervising contracted personnel, both professional and hands-on, the individual is expected to maintain a sizable project load.
Direct or oversight responsibility for many of the capital projects undertaken at Vantage Oleochemicals. The normal flow of events in a project may include: completion of project design and developing a firm cost estimate, firm project design and a commitment on equipment, developing bid packages and going to contractors for bids on equipment and installation, coordinating and checking the actual construction, start-up and modifications of finished equipment and an Advice of Physical Completion for the project, and recommending routing maintenance, spare parts, listing necessary information and a financial closing (over or under estimate and why). May act as a Field Construction Manager or, in some cases, the Commissioning Manager.
In the area of technical assistance, the incumbent investigates problems of a production, maintenance or technical nature, such as equipment failure or a process bottleneck.
Problem Solving:
Study existing situations (equipment, processes, manufacturing procedures, etc.), considering possible improvements or modifications, and preparing reports complete with conclusions and recommendations as a result of studies.
Incumbent plans or assist in planning the approach to projects or segments of projects assigned by supervisor and for plant turnarounds.
When assigned complete responsibility for small projects, supervises and participates in all aspects of the projects from inception to start-up (designs, estimates, calculations, test runs, etc.) and resolves all problems encountered.
Works routinely with other department heads and managers to assist in formulation of Vantage Oleochemicals' capital plan and refines proposals for submittal.
Accountability:
While reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, there remains a strong dotted line to the site manager and his staff. Actions taken and plans developed must be formulated with an eye to the site manager being the real customer.
Responsible for assisting in the development of technical improvements in equipment, processes, manufacturing procedures, etc. Directly affects profits by assisting in trouble-shooting equipment and/or process malfunctions and thereby restoring the plant to maximum operating efficiency. Responsible for adherence to safety and health rules & regulations.
Financial Responsibility:
Plays a major role in executing the Capital budget of approximately $10 Million per annum. Annually supervises or participates in 10-12 small ($25,000 or less) construction projects from inception to start-up. Annually manages 1 or 2 major ($.5MM and up) projects, assuming total responsibility for cost, scope, and technical success.
Education & Experience:
Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
Experience:
Minimum 5 to 10 years of engineering experience.
Supervisory experience with small groups desirable.
Well-developed human relations and communications skills.
Experience in the chemical industry or other process plants, with related technologies is strongly preferred.

Position Summary

SUMMARY
Evaluates design requests and assists in the preliminary designs and costing of wastewater treatment equipment. Performs operations, testing and reporting within pilot studies to meet objectives in coordination with other departments, at customer sites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and report on the applicability of treatment processes based on received information including pilot reports, operational data, engineering reports, and/or email/verbal communication.
Evaluate design requests and size equipment for water and wastewater treatment. Make recommendations suitable for requested application, while considering project drivers, and customer needs and interests.
Develop preliminary process design reports for water and wastewater treatment systems encompassing biological, filtration, membrane, and/or ozone technologies, as assigned.
Determine electrical and mechanical equipment costs and pricing for preliminary process designs.
Develop and implement test plans and operational protocols to meet technical and commercial company objectives in pilot testing based on the direction from R&D and Product Management.
Operate pilot units and provide instruction to on-site pilot testing personnel to ensure outcomes are aligned with company objectives.
Manage data collection and interpretation from onsite pilot studies and lab-scale testing to prepare meaningful statistical evaluations, graphs, tabulations and accessibility by other internal departments.
Generate effective written reports to convey findings and conclusions of testing to both internal and external customers.
